In short: As good as ever... In full: Aside from the 'bumpy' pavement section between miles 5-7 (pavements are one of my pet hates for any race!) there really is nothing to moan about with the Gosport Half, which delivers the goods year after year.
With its excellent organisation and facilities, coupled with easy parking and good access to toilets (Stokes Bay is my favoured base), this race really has everything covered. Oh and let's not forgot that it is built for speed (wind permitting), so a PB should always be in your sights.
Thank you Gosport Road Runners. See you again in 2013! Date of review: November 18, 2012
In short: Organised by runners for runners - and you can tell. Excellent. In full: An excellent well-organised race that's worth the trip from London every year. You can tell a race that's organised by a running club - all the details are considered and the enthusiasm of the marshalls is superb. Signage, traffic management, pre- and post-race admin all flawless.
A bargain at £14 too. Why people shell out £50 for some event company organised events over even shorter distances (Great Run series, particularly the GSR, I'm thinking of you!) is a mystery when there are gems like this around. Well done Gosport Road Runners. First class. Date of review: November 18, 2012
In short: fast...no, not fast...........faaaaassst! In full: Glorious sunny and fresh day. Flat course, chip-timing, easy parking, great value, friendly folk.....what more do you want? Date of review: November 18, 2012
In short: Really fast! In full: This is the fastest course I've ever run for any distance. Not only did i smash my PB by 4mins but I also ran my fastest 10 miler by 2mins! Hardly any wind does make a big difference though. Great support along the way! Would do it again! Date of review: November 18, 2012
In full: This was my 4th time doing this race and I got a PB. No problems with parking, use of local school is a good idea. I actually enjoy running around the airfield, it makes a change from roads. The weather was glorious today and running along the seafront and looking out to the IOW was nice. I loved the medal this year and goody bag too. Marshalls were great and encouraging as always. My 6 year old did the kids race, the kids race is £2 and they get a medal and goody bag. I think this race is a good price for what you get, I will be back next year and so will my little boy. In short: Local course and flat - a little bit dull though! In full: The event was organised well enough and although the course is a little bit bland there is excellent pb potential. To be honest there is not too much they can do with the course to improve it as Gosport is such a small place. I am a Gosport resident so this is an ideal course for me. If I lived further than 20 miles away I probably wouldn't bother. The price was reasonable too. Date of review: April 4, 2012
