In short: First time ran this race and will go back again next year. Nice weather, nice atmnosphere and good organisation all helped to a good morning run out. Not bad prizes either! Date of review: March 14, 2010
In short: Beautiful Run In full: Always enjoy running in Knole Park, and the weather today was superb. Last ran this in 2008 and the route had slightly changed this year omitting a really really tough hill withnow a tough hill. Pleased with 42 mins Date of review: March 14, 2010
In short: Tough challenging course In full: The new hill on this years course was probably not as steep as last year but was twice as long and strength sapping. A very good challenging run in near perfect conditions. Date of review: March 18, 2009
In short: Improved organisation and much better weather than 2008; race now close to capacity In full: 2008 feedback has been taken on board by the organisers and the improvements are noticeable. The route was bang on 10k this time, well marked with distance boards accurately placed. The right hand sweep before the loop at 2km / 7km corrects the distance and also means a slightly easier climb. After the climb, it's pretty much downhill for the rest of the lap.
Was taken by surprise to see the drinks station after 250 metres of the first lap but water was available there just past half way at the start of the second lap - a much better position than the bottom of the steepest slope where it was last year.
Suggestions for minor improvements:
(1) use an aerosol hooter to start the race "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go!" was a bit of an anticlimax and may have been difficult to hear towards the back of the starting pen. (2) now that the race has a few years of results, suggest pace signage along the starting pen to guide runners to line up with their expected times (3) a few more marshals on the drinks station to hand out water (on both sides of the course) would reduce the risk of missing the pick-up or (as I did) knocking over a cup or two. Also, paper sups are easier to pinch than plastic ones.
I've seen the odd negative comment about value for money - one of the aims of the race is to raise funds for charity so I'm more than happy to pay £14 on the day (or £10/£12 pre-race day) for the race, medal (nice one this year), bananas and water.
Overall, an excellent event thanks to the marshaling, easy on the day registration, the setting, underfoot conditions, weather and everyone who volunteered to help and those who participated.
In short: A good, fun, hard race! In full: My 4th 10k race and found this very hard! 1st one back since Dec 08 so maybe my fault! The slow incline to start and hill are horrible but rest of the race very relaxing and enjoyable! Not so enjoyable 2nd time around - I have discovered I am not a fan of laps! Lovely weather which I think made it nicer to run! Only point I would say is a water station halfway would be good, only one a beginning! Lovely marshalls, very friendly and encouraging!
