In short: Running through Hell? I think so! In full: What an enjoyable race - only those of us crazy to do these type of things will understand me saying that! Awesome atmosphere and great camaraderie amongst participants. Little me had to swim the Bog of Doom but fortunately managed to stay upright in the Lake towards the end. The Hills of Hell at the end were nothing compared to some of the hills you go up and down during the majority of the race. Beautiful scenery and lots of fun.
Downsides were the portaloo situation at the start. Blocked already by 9am...dread to think what they're like now if they haven't been replaced for the Sunday lot! Not many marshalls on the course either, but luckily I didn't see anyone running near me needing assistance at any stage.
All-in-all, lots of cold messy fun but what a sense of achievement when you finish! Date of review: November 28, 2010

In short: Frostbite fingers anyone? In full: Like others, I have only just decided that I'm warm again (it's 22:05). We paid the £4 for VIP parking and frankly I'd happily have paid double that for the convenience. Talking of convenience, toilet facilities horrific. Again as someone else said, suprising lack of marshalls on some areas however it was very enjoyable and whilst wading through freezing water collecting pond slime round ones ankles may not be everyones idea of fun, I loved it. In short: Shockingly cold, bit over-subscribed in places In full: The bottle necks are irritating, spent the first 6 or so miles getting into a stride, which was broken by having to walk up the gullies. Landscape is great, organisation faultless. Not sure why they gave out full bottles of water half way as the majority of people only sipped a couple of times and then threw them away - bit of a waste. Date of review: November 27, 2010

In short: So pleased i've done this race, but now that box is ticked, i doubt i'll be back. A must do once only race! In full: I found the organisation very good, route was clearly marked and start/finish area had plenty of space and things to do. Thought there was a lack of marshalls around the course, especially given the chance of twisted ankles and hypathermia! Goody bag was nice and full, although t-shirt is a bit cheap. Can't get over how cold the event was, but to be expected given the time of year. Wish i hadn't put my hands in the water, never been so cold in all my life, took the shine of the event for me unfortuantly (but it does have Hell in the title, so im trying to not complain). In short: stunning scenery, possibly they've overreached themselves on scale? In full: arrived an hour early for the race as we'd not received our racepacks (it turned out 300 other people hadn't either). queued for 45 minutes then had to leg it to the car and back super quickly which made for a slightly stressful start! race was fine, scenery was gorgeous, but it felt super oversubscribed compared to previous years - queueing for hills and having run slowly along narrow paths sucks - are they just trying to make the most amount of money possible or what? super super cold at the end, didn't appreciate the woman who disputed whether I 'really needed' the hypothermia foil thingy I was begging her for. my last hellrunner I think... In short: hell freezes over ! In full: finally 4 hours after finishing the race i have enough feelings in my fingers to write a review. the cold snap made the ground hard which spoilt it a bit but what a challenge it made the water crossings and the bog of doom the water was the coldest it has been in the 4 years ive done this race. still i had a enjoyable race and met some great people. the only thing that lets this race down is getting out of the parking area and again like last year a poor t-shirt ( mulberry purple !! ) despite this i have no doubt that i will coming back to hell again next year :) Date of review: November 27, 2010
