In short: Stunning scenery and a great atmosphere.
In full: This race had a really friendly atmosphere. The route is beautiful and varied but quite tough for a road runner. I welcomed the change although my time was a couple of minutes slower than normal but the whole day was so nice that it didn't matter. Thank you to the marshall at mile 13,who made my day as did the other marshalls. Only hassle was getting out of the carpark as some idiot was trying to come down the narrow lane. Will recommend the race to everyone. Thank you :)

In short: Second time of running for me - just gets better
In full: Enjoyed it more this second time round - it was nice knowing what was coming. Special mention to the "marshal of the year" on mile seven, and the two purple pom-pommed cheerleaders towards the end. You were great.

In short: The good, the bad and the ugly....
In full: Starting in reverse order...

The Ugly: Bottle neck near tunnel and stairs and an idiot who decided to block the path, pretending to reverse his car at the precise moment when all of us attempted to run a very narrow single file path. The Fast food outlet was rubbish, not only tasted burnt and greasy but the queue and waiting time was twice as long as the loos prior to the race! Give us some heathtly and FAST food, we were starving!

The bad: No hills? then I must have got slightly lost as I certainly noticed a gradient.... And not enough T-shirts size small at the end.

The good: and wonderful! The MARSHALLS! Best Marshalls I ever encountered during a race, cheering us on, smiling, having fun, just great, great great! The Host calling everyone's name at the finish was great. The car park was great location, the weather was great, the Drums were great and my wife was great as it was her firt ever race and she she did a sub 2h30.

We will be back!

In short: Picturesque, well organised, and faster than most suggest
In full: The course is flat and, though off-road, not difficult underfoot, save for the loop at halfway that brings you back round to the riverside. It certainly has PB potential because I did one, unless of course I've not been trying hard enough in the few I've done before. Marshals, as everyone says, are excellent, smiley and supportive and the whole event has that buzz that makes you want to do it again. On the downside, no chip timing (though not a deal-breaker and, yes, I know it cuts down costs not to have them) is unusual these days, the parking arrangements could be better (but I suppose they could be better everywhere and there could be more toilets, especially since there are precious few opportunities that I could see to sneak off and find a bush (except maybe out on the course itself). Again, though, that's a problem common to all these races, and what do you do - provide one per runner? Thoroughly enjoyed it and will do it again.

In short: A lovely scenic race - great way to spend a Sunday morning
In full: Really enjoyed this race. It was only my second half marathon and I enjoyed the mix of serious and fun-runners.

With only a few places too narrow to pass at the beginning and end, I found there was plenty of opportunity to overtake and get a good time. The mix of terrain kept my legs interested too. And the drums kept us going halfway and the medal and goody bag were a nice reward for finishing.

The portaloo queues were big as always but we found the the toilets in the leisure centre which were far nicer!

In short: An excellent event held in idyllic surroundings.
In full: I thoroughly enjoyed the event. It was extremely well organised and the marshals were so enthusiastic encouraging everyone. The marshal, who was stationed about half way as we turned left to come back, was wonderful. Definitely an event to do again.
