In short: MMmmmm In full: I think everyone has already said it, joke number of toilets - women's were locked so the men's became unisex, the hilarious start, where the 'organiser' suddenly said readysteadyGO ! the ground became quite slippery by lap 4 meaning I went arse over on one corner, the kissing gate, the strange place for the finish. Also noted a few runners who 'finished' after lap 3,who were then quite happy to pick up their finishers medal Date of review: January 18, 2009

In short: Challenging course, rewarding tough work, poor organisation In full: The good points are that they had official police stopping the traffic on the road crossing which was great, proper water bottles at the drinks stations, some good and encouraging marshalls, and it's always nice to get a medal at the end. It was a tough and challenging course which is always good training, and the park was a nice setting (the football field part not so much).
The organisation however wasn't very good. There was one toilet per sex, even though there was a block of toilets with both the women and men's doors locked. On part of the course there was a gate that could only have one person running through it in one direction at a time which was just asking for trouble on a multi-lap course, especially as you had to run back through it too. There was a definite lack of pre-race info / maps too. I only found the road name from people on this forum. Also I wasn't actually noticed when I crossed the finishing line so haven't appeared in the results which is a little disappointing.
Overall I'm glad I did it, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to do it again. With some better organisation it could be a good one. Date of review: January 13, 2009

In short: Cross country across muddy fields! In full: No communication re. confirmed place on the race, directions, instructions - NOTHING! Lucky I was looking at the discussion threads and got directions from there. Not good organisation. Not the flat course I was expecting. No km markers as the course was repetitive. Nice to have an indoor area to wait for the start. Did the four laps and was disheartening to see so many people had finished when I started lap 4 :-( Even so, most marshalls were encouraging (they were also counting my laps). Even the people lapping me were encouraging which was great - shame no-one offered to pull me up the hill though! Date of review: January 12, 2009

In short: Poorly organised but enjoyable enough race In full: I feel a lot of effort must go into organising these events, so I don't want to be too harsh on the organisers. I took the time to read some of the reviews from 2007 before yesterday's race and was hopeful that the organisers would have taken on board some of the more sallient points. Sadly they hadn't, as distance markers, baggage and organisation of the runners around the course was poor at best. All this said the race was demanding and just what was needed to get 2009 kicked off. One more point to the organisers; Nobody wants a baseball cap at the end of a race especially a moody one like the one received yesterday....Medal and T-shirt(Quality relative to race fee) you cannot go wrong!! In short: Could have been better organised In full: This was my first race ever so I didn't know exactly what to expect, although right from the initial on-line application up to the end of the race I found there to be a distinct lack of information from the organisers. I understand that due to adverse weather conditions the course was changed at the last minute but I really wasn't expecting it to be quite as hilly let alone that gate! On the positive side, thanks to the marshals who were enthusiastic and supportive in conditions that couldn't have been much fun for them. I'd like to give the organisers another chance but I think I'd look elsewhere if the next one is the same. Date of review: January 12, 2009

In short: I enjoyed this event, definately a fun run. In full: Considering the weather conditions I think all those concerned did very well to get this event underway. I enjoyed the conditions and race route which made this race resemble a cross country. The atmosphere was good and the marshalls were encouraging. I thought the finishing medal was very nice also. In short: An enjoyable challenge. In full: Interesting, different race. Hadn't read the write-up properly. Thought is was simply on park pathways. Hell of a challenge from the usual road race. Wasn't bothered by lead runners barging through, all part of the fun. The 'gate' was another challenge. No problem. The only disappointment was the finish, it wasn't that clear. I was still thinking about the final half lap (four and a half laps, became three and three quarters) Just needed, say, a 200m marker before the finish to get into sprint mode. Finally, coming from Essex it's a bit of a shock to find out what they mean by a flat course in Kent. A great day. Date of review: January 12, 2009
