In short: Very good debut for the English Half In full: For a first time event it was done very well, great scenic out and back course with plenty of support and drink stations along the way. Very well organised finish area with different sized T-Shirts available it means I will actually get to wear mine with pride instead of the usual 'one size fits all' large. The Medal and T-Shirt are both fantasic and a decent goody bag to boot. I only have one issue to bring up that may be addressed next year, when people registered online they were asked to put there expected finish times in and I assume numbers were alloacted to reflect this but at the start everyone just lined up together, why not do what Great Run events do and have people in there own pens which would help ease the congestion on the narrow part of the course?
In short: Must do race, very well organised In full: My 1st half (1:57). I echo all the positive comments. The crowd support was fantastic, the drinks stations spot on, great track finish. The only feedback I can pass on for next year, is some more facilities for the spectators watching. A must for next year even if it's just for the medal Date of review: October 5, 2009
In short: Great 1st time effort In full: Don't think I trained like I should have for this race - the hills in the 1st half really caught me out, and unlike others I don't remember any downhill bits! Finishing on the track was really good - don't know where my sprint finish came from. Nice medal as well. Date of review: October 5, 2009
In short: An excellent tough but rewarding HM - and good organisation. In full: I'm not going to "moan" about the things that weren't quite right but just my thoughts, hopefully to make things even better next year. Firsty, the venue was excellent with a good PA and atmosphere. The delayed start didn't bother us too much, and once we got going the support and marshalls/drink stations were excellent. There was no finish time clock for both the finishers and the spectators and apparently the hot drinks stall ran out of hot water by 10.00am. So better facilities for the spectators would have helped on this chilly autumn run. A great goody bag and attractive medal. I look forward to an even better 2nd year... In short: Undulating, scenic rural course, with a great finish. Good for an autumnal half In full: Great organisation for a first half marathon. The parking in town was fine (and for "quick" finishes, much better than waiting for the official car parks to open). The course heads out over a very rural route, with gentle uphills for the start, and then a pleasant speedy last 3 miles.
The goody bag was excellent, and the organisation for a virgin race was excellent.,
This is "pencilled in" for next OCtober already. Date of review: October 4, 2009
