In short: The route was nice but really badly organised, start was delayed by 15 min with no explanation and with wind chill it would have been 2-3 degrees, everyone was shivering and turning blue by the time it finally started, also ran out of water at finish

In short: Delay explained. Please see below
In full: Hello to everyone who took part and thank you for entering. There were two reasons for the delayed start and they were announced, but many will not have heard due to the wind. The first problem was caused simply by the number of entrants, we had nearly 40% more than last year, and many of those were in the last few days. So we were overwhelemd with those who had entered late and who had to pick up their numbers on the day, and those who wanted to enter late.

Once we had cleared that we found that about half a dozen motorists had found their way onto the course and they had to be cleared. We didn't have any option but to do that. So, a very big sorry for the hanging around and we will do our best to avoid those things happening again next year.

Meanwhile I'm off to find out who the girls were at mile 11!

Best wishes and thak you all for the kinder comments.

In short: Delayed start - poor. Girls at mile 11 - the best ever
In full: There's no point moaning about the weather. You have to accept whatever it is. The delayed start of 15 minutes was not acceptable. I felt for the runners wearing the minimum and shivering in the biting wind for an unneccessary 15 minutes. I enjoyed the route. Marshalls were variable. A few were encouraging. I felt I was there to encourage some of them rather than the other way around! However, the two girls at mile 11 were the best ever. The finish was efficiently organised. Thank you to the organisers and hope you raised what you expected for your good causes.

In short: Nice half marathon for all.
In full: Always a good run out at Eastbourne. Marshalling well appreciated on a cold windy day and the first 3-4 miles are pretty and nice town atmosphere.

The run from that point is always hard along the beach but running by the sea can't be faulted and is why everyone chooses to come here.

Add my thank you's to the girls at mile 11. Best marshals of the day!

Small gripe about the delayed start. Hard to stay warm on a freezing morning 15 minutes after warming up.

Thanks to the organising team.

In short: Not too impressed
In full: It wasn't bad but the long wait at the start could have been explained better.
And what's this about chocolate bars? When I finished (2:30) there was only a crowd of runners in the finishing funnel, no stewards to direct you and no smile or well done from the lady giving out the medals (and after 2:30 hrs I want it!! ;-)). I did get a banana though!
Despite all my moaning, I would do it again one day but I need to practice mountains first!!
Oh, and the girls at Mile 11? AMAZING!! Motivated me for another mile.

In short: Just the one hill!
In full: Was taken by surprise by the hill - but the clue was in the name I suppose! Wind made it very challenging from 4-8 miles, but really enjoyed it! A special thank you for the 2 girls at mile 11 who are definitely in the running for world's most enthusiastic marshalls!

In short: My second time here and did a pb although must of ran 50 halfs by now
In full: Challenging and infact ran the course a few weeks ago as a tester - the hill at Beachy Head Road not too bad if stick to pace a bottom and continue. East wind off the coast did make it difficult at times. Marshalls good especailly round the Marina area - the girls were amazing. Chocolate at the end is always good. Roll on Brighton Marathon.

In short: Good atmosphere, friendly and encouraging marshalls. The hill at 5km in is very steep (both up and down) but the course is otherwise flat. Strong headwind made it pretty tough today (at least, that's my excuse!)

In short: Only my 2nd half marathon, so PB not unsurprising. The hill was a lot tougher than expected. Well done to the marshalls, especially the wildly enthusiastic girls around mile 10-11!
