In short: Good turnout and great atmosphere in parts. Ran a PB, so very pleased. In full: Good race to run as part of the build up to the Cardiff half marathon. Nice to see so many runners. The organisation was good - the two races (2k and 10k) went without a hitch as far as I could tell. Plenty of marshalls, so no confusion re. route. Narrow in parts, but this is expected given the course takes you through Bute park. May hold up those runners towards the middle of the field, though. Supporters were great at the start, at the bottom of Cathedral road and at the finish. Date of review: September 6, 2009
In short: I enjoyed the race and the city of Cardiff! In full: Lovely race, and the organisation was excellent, very flat so it is good for beginners like me. I've seen some people concerned about the price but I think it was a good value for money, you get to race around nice spots in the city centre, traffic free, good day out for the whole family, my husband and daughter managed to see me departing, at 5km and at the end. And we are all helping a good cause. The medal is nice and the goody bag with the Cardiff guidebook was a nice touch. I will be back with my family next year, my toddler might be just old enough to run the 2K with my husband while I warm up! Date of review: September 26, 2008
In short: Good course, good cause. In full: First time that I have done this course - so much better than the ever increasing circles around the Civic centre. If they can get runners to line up according to expected finishing time it would get a higher rating from me. I got tripped and collided with a bollard at the side of the cricket ground. Agree with comments about km markers and water. The T-shirts are in loud colours to get them noticed and hopefully talked about.
Hard for me to say as a Newport boy but a very good race, Cardiff. Date of review: September 11, 2008
In short: Congratulations to the organisers, great event. In full: Having called into the KRUF offices on two occasions I've seen at first hand just how hard the small number of staff have to work to make this event such a success. Their commitment is exemplary and I'm sure they'll take on board the suggestions for improvement to make the run even better next year. I much preferred it to the Cardiff Bay run. In short: good race in great location, but still scope to make improvements In full: Enjoyed the race and will do again next year. Great route, and atmosphere. There is scope to improve the enjoyment even further and make this one of the best 10k in the UK - too many slow runners and walkers at the front so you spend the first 2km weaving in and out. - the use of bottles is a complete waste of time and money and not needed for a 10km race. Use cups - KM markers must be in the right place. - the tee shirts are prety awful, mine was bright purple, and most people will never wear again. Would rather the cost go to the charity. - the goody bag was not a goody bag, and again a waste of time. Much better to be just given a medal - try and keep spectators etc off the run in, this applies to both the 2km race and the 10km. Date of review: September 10, 2008
