In short: Nice scenery, some killer hills
In full: Ran this for the 5th time today. Not keen on the new finish - rather quiet and a cold walk back to the race base. And not even a cup of water. I've never been to a distance race where there wasn't even a cup of water for the finishers. A long queue for a cuppa it was then.

In short: shame about lack of attention at the finish
In full: Great support of marshals and spectators along the route - locals and friends of other runners made a great effort even in the more remote parts of the course.

A real pity that there wasn't any water, fruit or jelly bean/babies at the finish especially considering the distance run.

The finish itself was a bit deflating, tucked away in a muddy lane, surely a final sprint across the grass to a Finishing line/banner would have been easy to have arranged - with bottles of water and fruit in same field.

Only knew about the memento because i had a bit of wait after finishing, went into the sports hall to find a drink and noticed the mugs being handed out in a corner. Not easy to notice once the hall became crowded or if you had no need to go back into the hall.

Shame that by the time those at the back of the race had finished there wasn't even anyone at the table and all mementos were boxed up underneath and it was left to other runners to point them out to people.

In short: Excellent organisation as always
In full: A new start and finish and I have to agree with some of the previous comments. The old finish was wonderful with family and friends at the finish to cheer us all on. The new finish is tucked away with no room for cheering fans! Also a shame not to have some water along with the great fruit you always had. I will be back as it is one of my top 10. Thank you.

In short: Pleasant race but where was the finishing line?
In full: Pleasant race with a nice mixture of ups and downs. It was also nice not to be on my own towards the back. Friendly mrshalls - but one more drinks station would have been welcomed.

The big disappointment was the finishing line - where was it? No finishing banner, no funnel - just the chip line "rug" and a clock in the corner. I was so surprised that I had reached the finishing line that my husband had to call after me to say "you can stop running now" as I continued in search of the finish. So no customary sprint to the finishing line for me this time.

I wonder how many runners left without their momento - a mug, which was available hidden away in the sports hall (quite a way from the finish). The other poor thing was that the people who were handing out the mugs obviously got fed up and disappeared, so those people who came in right at the back, came into the sports hall and had no idea of where to go or what they were really doing in there. My husband came to the rescue and handed out the mugs instead. He pointed this problem out to the people counting the chip tags, but was just greeted by shrugs. What a poor way to treat runners - you got the feeling the organisers only valued the faster people and did not care about the slower runners at all.

In short: Very good race
In full: My first race since a disaster at last years Canterbury Half. Really enjoyed it.
The course is fast with one bad (steep!) hill and a couple of longer drags. From 8 miles it's basically down-hill all the way so it's a great finish.
The ford was dry this year so that didn't present any problems.
I like getting a mug instead of a medal, although having nearly the exact same design as last year does seem like a wasted opportunity! ;-)
Fun race, thanks to the organisers and marshals.
