In short: Can not be faulted. brilliant In full: My fifth marathon and the best by far. The organisation was the best of any of the 30 or so races I've done over the past few years. Marshals and support excellent. Route super. A few hills onwards from 20miles, but there has to be a tester. I've done four other marathons and not had good experiences. This was make or break time. On the back of this I'll do another - says a lot to me! A big thank you to all the organisers. Date of review: October 9, 2012

In short: A great race in a great place across two countries In full: Organisation from Andy and Chris amazing. The end was much better this time. Excellent goody bags, great for the kids (mini marathon) who were waiting around for several hours. A different experience from London, just as good. Did Chester Oct 2011, 2012 and will definitely be back in 2013 to try to prove my time. Recommend highly to anyone, first time or seasoned marathoners. Date of review: October 9, 2012

In short: My favourite ever marathon In full: Marathon number 29 and my favourite by far. This was my second chester and it was even better than last year. This is a race organised by runners for runners...every detail reflects this. Little things like the way they listened to comments about the finish area last year, show they really want to make this the best race it can be. Every detail catered for...gels, sports drinks, bins everywhere and the most awesomely awesome marshalls...I wanted to take them all home! The village support was incredible...big shout out to the people of holt! The course, for me, was perfect. A lovely variety of lanes, villages and city...never a chance to get bored. The hills hurt, but hell, they made it more fun!! The finish is wonderful, especially having your name called out, and the way the organisers are all there on hand as you cross the line. I really cannot say enough about this race....thank you chester so very much for a great day. And a 6 minute Pb ;-)

In short: Very well organised Event and perfect setting - A rural run with a Urban mix In full: The race organisation from signing up to finishing and even afterwards with a Thank You e-mail was perfect. I can see why this is going to be one of the best UK Marathons. Not quite a pancake flat course but very enjoyable with some good crowds and for the last mile it was a great run in along the River Dee and around the racecourse. The T Shirt is very good and will get loads of use over the winter months. Distance markers every mile and bins for rubbish at every mile with loads of water stations. The weather of course was perfect and I could imagine had the weather been wet the grass start could have been horrible even dangerous, as it was I stood in a puddle at the start and had wet feet before even setting off. But overall one of the best races I have every done Date of review: October 9, 2012

In full: It was my first marathon and the weather was excellent. Arrival no problem but I was dropped off by my family who easily supported me at various points round the course. The course was grea - a mix of the beautiful city of Chester, country lanes and picture book villages. The support en route was a great boost and despite the pain at 19 miles I really enjoyed it and would recommend to other "first timers", but you have to commit to getting your mileage up otherwise I would imagine it would be gruelling. In short: Very well organised, great volunteers, excellent crowd support, loads of water stations & very pretty scenery couldn't have chosen a better place to do my first marathon!! In full: The race started on time and was extremely well organised throughout. The volunteers were excellent and there were loads of water/fuel stations. The scenery was lovely and there was fantastic crowd support in the small villages and Chester itself. The only downside was the hill at 24 miles - I was surprised by this as it's classed as a flat course. This was my first marathon and the atmosphere and support from other runners was exceptional - everyone was really friendly. The medal and tech t-shirt is great as it's long sleeved (ready for winter). It was a lovely touch having your name read out over the tanoy when crossing the finish line & being congratulated by the race organisers. I can't recommend it highly enough -and to top it all off the weather was warm & sunny! I'll definately be there again next year! :-) Date of review: October 9, 2012
