In short: 1st timer and loved every minute
In full: 1st time running this race and wasn't looking forward to it but so pleased I did. Great enertainment from the announcer who kept us smiling. although everything seemed to go wrong for the organisers they remained cheerful. Great marshalls, especially the children who were soaked but enthusiastically clapping and smiling. Loved the route except one bit of downhill which was tough. The goody bag and 'medal' at the end couldn't help make you smile. Thanks to Stockport for organising such a great event and I will be back next year.

In short: Yet another brilliant race from Stockport Harriers!
In full: Not the easiest of courses, made more difficult by the appalling weather, but superb support by the marshalls, great commentary and an excellent goody bag make this well worth turning up for.

In short: Great race, great marshals, great value
In full: First time running this race for a few years, and it is getting better. Well done to Stockport Harriers for putting on a brilliant event!

Where else can you go to a race and be greeted by Tony “Motty” Audenshaw giving a commentary ranging for the sublime to the ridiculous (mainly the latter) to put a smile on your face.

Great to start and finish on the track, and great encouragement from the marshals who must have been soaked to the skin and freezing cold, but still retained good humour and also some initiative to replace the stolen drinking water station (would you believe it) with an impromptu arrangement requiring frequent visits to the nearby kennels to keep the water topped up.

As for the race itself, a challenging course taking in parks, road, off-road and hills and a good mix of top quality runners and fun runners made for a top atmosphere.

Loved the long sleeved fluorescent tech-running shirt and the design, which was worth the entry money alone.

Finish off with hot showers, tea, coffee, chilli and hot-pot and a generous set of winners prizes and it’s the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.

In short: Come to Stockport and visit the town's second best toilet facilities!
In full: What to say about this? No chip timing, somebody nicked the drinks tables, the start line fell over, zippy got in my way on the second lap of the track and is the only long distance race I've done where you get lapped within 600 metres!!

Looking at that, it sounds rubbish, but how wrong could you be. The funniest compère at any race ever, who inbetween the humour about the toilets and the largest brick structure in Europe was really informative. It is not a traffic free race, so the marshals had to contend with impatient Stopfordians trying to get out and do their Christmas shopping, driving wind and rain and a full cast of a 1000 runners. But what a job they did; smiling, cheerful and full of humour ('dont worry, it carries on uphill round the next corner'!). To cap it all you get to start on a proper track and fulfil your Olympic ambitions by overtaking round the final bend coming into the finish straight!

When you're done there is a selection of home made chilli, hot pot and cakes.

Finally the hills, for people like me they are going to make a PB very difficult, two long climbs, both nearing the mile mark in total? That is a lot of climbing in a ten mile race! But for me they werent too bad as they were long rather than steep which I find more cope-able.

The goody bag is brilliant and a well designed long sleeve top which is a true memento of the day. Loved the 'medal'!

A long review from me, but felt as my marks are a bit low in places they needed explaining. Just look at the overall mark and the atmosphere, for me that is what really counts and what makes it such a fun day that is a real credit to Stockport Harriers and all the volunteers who set up this truly exceptional end of season race.

Very, very impressed!

In short: enjoyable, friendly, funny
In full: If you think running 10 miles in December rain is depressing - think again. THis race makes it a pleasure. Great goody bag and quirky too - cod liver oil capsule anyone? The compere was brilliant - as good as any standup. And great support from the Marshals too.

In short: My 3rd year and 3rd PB. Wet but great fun
In full: Start and finish on the race track. No bunching up on the roads. Good Marshals. Great Long Sleeve High Viz T shirt. Excellent MC to welcome the runners back to the stadum. One of my favourites.
