In short: 2 laps to heaven In full: I always find this race really tough - the 2 laps is mentally quite tough, and it is suprisingly undulating, which can take it out of you - especially on the second lap! That said, I have PB'd every time I have done it (this year was my 3rd time), so it can't be that bad.
There are always plenty of friendly supporters and marshalls along the way, the organisation is good, there is plenty of car parking and toilets - what more could you ask for?
In short: Brilliant In full: As this was my first race ever I can't speak from experience that being said the experience was far better than I ever imagined in the lead up. I am grateful for all the marshalls egging us on...I needed that especially half way through the second lap. The clapping at the end also help spur me on through the last 200m. In much pain now but will be looking to do that again. Very glad I did my first race in my own town. Date of review: October 22, 2006
In short: A typical town 10k. Well organised. In full: The scenery was nothing special but the route was well marshalled and the organisers were friendly. Slightly undulating course but seems harder mainly due to two laps. Date of review: October 22, 2006
In short: A nice enough event but a little lacking in atmosphere. In full: A fair two lap run on closed roads around this commuter town that I thought was a little lacking in atmosphere. Good encouragement from the marshals and some useful distance marking despite the short 2/7 kilometre! Scope for improving the drinks/momentos to achieve better value. In short: Good fun In full: A quietly undulating run on partially closed roads on a 2-lap loop in leafy Hampshire. Like the Fleet Half, very well organised. Slightly comedic positioning on the 2km and 7km markers (both 250m early) but otherwise good fun. And the rain held off until the finish which was a good thing. Date of review: October 22, 2006
In short: PB potential In full: This was my first 10k race and i finished in 47:44 so was pleased with that. Good atmosphere through the High St. Nice sized field (about 800 I think) and well organised - will definately run again next year Date of review: October 23, 2004
