In short: VERY well organised: plenty of drink stns/loos/marshals/entertainment In full: It gets better every year! I loved the entertainment and appreciated the extra loos. Support towards end was deafening, fantastic! Thank you for all the effort put in, even including the pins with the race number, to the lovely medal, tshirt, goodie bag and all that goes with delivering a world class event. Highly recommended. In short: Hot. Well organised. In full: Hot, and nowhere near a personal best for me - five months being too busy to train will do that! Well organised as ever - congratulations to the organisers.
I might be in the minority here, but I must admit to preferring the old route - with the proper killer hill at the end! The hill, and the downhill sections in Blacon were a bit of a feature. The new route, with the repeat of Parkgate Road is just a little dull. (I would have struggled with the hill this year though.) Date of review: May 24, 2014
In short: Well organised and well supported. Friendly with a great volunteer crew. In full: I must have run nearly 50 different half marathons over the last 15 years. This event goes down as one of the best. Exceptionally well organised from pre-race information and support to the race day itself. A lot of other events could learn a lot from the guys who organise this event. The final mile or two back into the city is well supported and the crowd really spur you on to the finish. Which leaves you with a great uplifting feeling. If there was any improvement to be made, I found the course quite boring. Maybe some music points would help. It is also nice to see an event that has enough toilets at the start. A real rarity. Well done to the organisers and the people who came out to cheer people on. Date of review: May 23, 2014
In short: Room for Improvement In full: First time I've done Chester; I was using it as a training run for upcoming marathon. I must say that for the width and surface of some of the roads, there were far too many runners and I witnessed a good few falling over. Also the water station volunteers could of been slicker by opening the polythene wider to make the bottles more accessible and not worry about opening bottles, runners are quite capable of doing that. Start and finish areas were well thought out seeing as they weren't one area. Date of review: May 22, 2014
In short: Good website and build-up, very well organised, bands and stewards all good, exciting city centre finish. In full: Their 'partner hotel' arrangement needs rethinking:had to explain it when I booked; on arrival 2 staff disagreed about road closures and access; overall quality was poor and corner-cutting; worst of all, it was on the race route so no access (or escape) for family for several key hours. But the early breakfast was good! Date of review: May 22, 2014
In short: Brilliant family day out! In full: Got to the racecourse nice and early and there were plenty of race crew around asking if we needed any help. Great organisation all the way round, plenty of water and marshals. The atmosphere was incredible with bands playing and support from the locals. My wife and daughter really enjoyed the fun run and were very happy with their t-shirts, great medal and goody bag. Coming in to the final straight was an incredible experience with the crowds cheering, thanks for an amazing experience! Date of review: May 21, 2014
In short: Great race, great organisation and atmosphere In full: Another great event from Andy and Chris, who really look after their runners from signup right through the event. Seamless organisation at the start and finish, and great support throughout the course from the marshals. It was a very warm day but there were plenty of well-stocked water stations. The city centre finish was one of the best I've experienced - great atmosphere and a slick exit route that plonked you right in the heart of the city. The finishers medal and T-shirt are fab. Will definitely be back again! Date of review: May 21, 2014
