In short: Great Race, perfect organisation, great value In full: I have done literally hundreds of 10k's but this was my first year at Mad Dog. Great Organisation, constant updates and information. Lots of parking and buses to the start. Lovely volunteers and entertainment on route great, goodie bag, medal and t-shirt.
Great flat and generally wide course for the numbers (one or two narrow short stretches), but real pb potential. Great race Date of review: February 9, 2014
In short: Exposed but simple route; A+ organisation but lacking entertainment at the end - just wanted to get on the bus and go home. In full: Pleasing but somewhat testing route at times because of exposure to elements (40mph gales today) - which only adds to the fun. Organisation was great pre-race and knew exactly what to do/where to go etc, (didn't use it but bag drop looked simple), friendly marshalls kept us right and cheered us on during it (well done and thank you - it can't have been fun standing in such blustery weather for so long). Thank you also to the various musicians around the route; if your beat didn't inspire me to run that bit faster your efforts certainly brought a smile to my face. Race plus T-shirt & medal sufficient for me in respect of vfm; freebies and testers in the doggy bag - some alright/some already binned/one voucher out of date! On the downside - a mouthful of water would have sufficed halfway but like most others I threw most of the bottle supplied there; I was thirsty at the finish line but there was an unexpected drought… enjoyed a banana instead whilst I went to find my own drink. The disappointment for me was it came to an abrupt end at the finish line. I was with a large group and we always head for a warming coffee and like to mingle with other runners but there was nothing in the way of entertainment to encourage us to hang around (and potentially spend more money). That said - PB, despite the weather... and so now I'll have to come back next year to better my course timing! See you then Date of review: February 9, 2014
In short: Would have liked some entertainment at the start and finish, there was no water at the finish as well tut tut, on a plus the medal and t shirt are good. Goody bag seems to be full of samples. Overall I did enjoy the race just needs tweeking. Date of review: February 9, 2014
In short: No water on finish line. Nice to have fruit but hate bananas :-( In full: No water on finish line. As it was windy there was no blow up start/ finish line, except for the timers on the floor . Could have had a finishers flag or some marker to see the finish line . As two timers was a bit confusing on the road. Not enough toilets. People still waiting 5 mins before race was due to start . Could have done with the food and drinks stations moving away from the toilets , as it got very crowded. Good race overall ?? Date of review: February 9, 2014
In full: Superb organisation and attention to detail made this an excellent race to participate in. Severe weather conditions did not prevent a couple of thousand runners enjoy or endure a great experience. Hats off to organisers and smiley volunteers. Date of review: February 9, 2014
In short: Fantastic race but a little bit breezy! In full: Excellent race, fantastic organisation, great support from the live bands and singers along the way. A huge thank you to the Marshall's who stood in the gale force winds. Excellent medal and t-shirt. OK I have to mention the gale force wind and talk about negative splits - the 5km out against the gale was hard but coming back fantastic. A race of two 5kms, I was a staggering 9 mins quicker on the way back to the finish! Excellent race, enjoyed every minute. Thank you. Date of review: February 9, 2014
