In short: Very scenic & testing course I reckon the many extended hills added 10-15 minutes to my time Date of review: May 9, 2008

In short: Fantasic, fantastic, fantastic In full: What an amazing challenge, both mentally and physically. The course was very, very hard. Long hills going up, steep hills going down, all coupled with challenging terrain. The atmosphere was great. Managed to pass the time of day with other runners which I've rarley done in other races. Marshals all really friendly indeed. Had no problems at all with route sign-posting. I wish I had done a lot more hill training rather than speed training, and can't wait to train for next years with this in mind. I feel than beginners need not avoid this race - it is hard, but it's friendly and there were runners of all levels. Many thanks to all envolved - will be back next year (with some serious hill training behind me!) Date of review: May 8, 2008

In short: Awesome race but not for a beginner In full: This was my first marathon (in fact my first race) and I really enjoyed it though at about the 18mile mark I would have told you something else. I would recommend this race to people but if its your first time then do the training, do it smart and get plenty of hill sessions in. One up side is by starting on a hard course means a flatter one might feel a little easier. Overal I loved it, everyone was friendly and encouraging, the marshall were great and the medal at the end is wicked (well I'm proud of it anyway). Will be doing it again next year, or possibly just the half... we'll see Date of review: May 7, 2008

In short: Brilliant In full: Had been worried about choosing this as a first marathon, but shouldn't have been. Friendly marshals, supportive runners, beautiful scenery, fantastic cake. Agree with the comments about ladies loos, and the drinks station running out of water at 19m wasn't great, but otherwise a brilliant day out. Haven't stopped grinning yet - will be back next year for sure. Date of review: May 7, 2008

In short: Views make the hills worthwhile In full: I only did the half marathon, but couldn't access the comments bit for it! This was a lovely race and very friendly. Fruit cake at the halfway (or 21 miles, for the hardy marathoners) was very welcome, but even better was the amazing cake selection at the end. Not just one cake, but a choice! The only problem with this race - and it is an important issue - was a lack of toilets for women. I was only able to find a total of 3 loos and queueing meant I lost warming up time just before the start. Frienly marshals, friendly runners, nice medal and a lovely day. I'll be there next year (but hoping for portaloos) Date of review: May 6, 2008

In short: Nice race, funny clock. In full: It is a great race in a beautiful area. However, to the alarm of many people the finish times have been stuffed up. Date of review: May 6, 2008

In short: See below: In full: Amazingly varied landscape with lush sea views, bright white chalk bridleways, soft grassy downs and even bluebell woods at the end. Several servings of tasty hills and super friendly race marshals rounded off a great day of running. An absolute must for off-road lovers!

In short: Excellent marathon race again In full: This is my second Three Forts and I would say it's definitely my favourite marathon, always very friendly and such a beautiful area to run in as well. The hills are always a challenge and make you want to come back for more! Organisation was superb as always so big thanks to the organisers and marshals. Date of review: May 5, 2008
