In short: Excellent organisation, challenging course, great marshals and cheery spectators. In full: Great mix of scenery, people and weather today. The hills were challenging, not too steep or too numerous but enough to make me really grateful to see town streets again after about 3 hours in that "undulating" countryside. Big up to those fantastic supporters! Brilliantly organised and well worth doing! I have to say that I wouldn't want to run this one in the rain! Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Beautiful course but forget a PB In full: Fantastic scenery, a well marshaled course and supportive spectators in places (you are never going to get the crowds or atmosphere of a big city race but when your legs are aching after another hill, nothing spurs you on more than a dozen people at the roadside with a tub of Jelly Babies and shouts of support). One thing you will do well to do though is get a PB as, though none of the hills are massively demanding, there are lots of them, usually another one turns up just as you are getting over the previous one! Several of the hills are visited twice as the course loops after the first 2 miles so you at least know what is coming next. The goody bag was filled to the brim as well with snacks, a sports bottle plus t-shirt and the medal was probably one of the best I've received. I originally entered this race to get a qualifying time for London next year but do you know what, they can keep their hyped up marathon. I'll be back here next year instead. In short: Brilliantly organised, really friendly In full: Congratulations to everyone who made this such a great marathon. I was a refugee from the disastrous Stratford Marathon non-event, and had looked quickly for another marathon. This was a long trip, but well worth it. Everyone was so friendly, brilliant organisation, great support throughout, the bottle drop off was really useful - made all the difference to me on such a hot day. Weather was too hot for me, and the course was challenging, but very scenic. If it was nearer, would definately do it again. Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Halstead delivers again! In full: This is a fantastic event & is far more enjoyable than the big city marathons. The organisation is second to none, the scenery is great (today's glorious weather made it even better), the marshalls are superb & the spectators' enthusiasm makes up for the lack of numbers - special mention to the cheerleaders who seemed to pop up all over the course. Having your own drinks available at water stations is a really special touch - made me feel like an elite athlete even if my time told a different story. Thanks to everyone at Halstead Road Runners for making this such a great occasion. Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Halstead delivers again! In full: Great race organisation, brilliant marshals and water stations, beautiful medal, nice t-shirt and goody bag. And a nice sunny day! It was and still is one of my favourite marathons. Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Challenging when you neglect to train properly.. In full: A fantastically organised race, marshalls and pulic very supportive. This was my 10th marathon so goal achieved. I had hoped Shakespeare Marathon would be 10th but that was shelved due to inclement weather / disasterous organisation and I booked Halstead last minute. I was hoping for 10 different races but not to be, as I ran Halstead last year. I actually prefer cold and wet weather and found today's heat really difficult. I'm taking a break until September, when I'll be able to plan some proper training. Spending the last nine months in the same room as a new baby doesn't help either with exhaustion (not my call)! Only issue with the race is that the second lap is a bit unnecessary. Take it over as far as Bures for great scenery. Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Brilliant day for a run, don't miss next year In full: After days of rain it was nice to see the sun, as the race went on so the wether got warmer, but don't worry plenty of water stations and local people supporting the event with jelly beans, sliced oranges and jaffa cakes. A big thank you goes out to all at Halstead road runners and the local supporters what a great day. Date of review: May 13, 2012
