In short: A good way to spend May day In full: A lovely village race. For the most part the organisation went well, but the finish was poor. I had to finish a long way short of the line since there were so many people waiting to be processed through the finish. I then watched as a good 20-30 people who clearly finished after me were ushered through before my line was! This aside, a lovely morning and I'll certainly be returning next year. In short: Got a P.B :) In full: Really enjoyed the race and got a PB,mainly because i went off quickly and was hanging on from 7k.Only thing i would say is maybe 1 or 2 more water stations, especially when its warm Date of review: May 6, 2008
In short: Good Course, slight problems with the start - I didn't know where it was. last 2km on the path next to a road was a little hard to pass other runners. finish in park was a good touch. parking was my biggest issue... Date of review: May 5, 2008
In short: Good well organised race In full: One of my favourite 10k races. Well organised and marshalled except for the car parking before the race. Otherwise well done RRR and all the marshalls Date of review: May 5, 2008
In short: Good. In full: Nothing wrong at all with this one really & well worth the cheap entrance fee.
Difficltu to find any faults really - only ones I had were that I wasn't sure exactly where the start line was & the showers at the end weren't up to much at all.
But still a good day & a course that seemed far quicker than last year, well marshalled along the way. I know the end was in a different place (100 yards further on?) but much of the rest of the course I didn't remember from last year. Date of review: May 5, 2008
In short: A hot and muggy Mayday 10k In full: I've done this race three times now and unfortunately this one has to be below par for the organisation. The start wasn't announced and I seem to completely miss the start line / marker ..... was there one! My race plan went to pots but thats my own fault. All said though its a great way to spend May Day morning and I will definately do it again! Thanks to the marshalls Date of review: May 5, 2008
In short: Great for the Mars bar afterwards! In full: Crowd support not half as vocal as Bracknell half last week, but a few people out all along the course. The Fete seemed to add a pleasant atmosphere before and after but I've no idea where the actual start line was!
Weather was very muggy today - and we would have benefitted from a second water station.
Good course for PB's, inspite of the hill at 4k. Date of review: May 5, 2008
In short: A good value race, PB potential, but busy road spoils last 2k! In full: My 2nd time at Shinfield and the May Day fete gives it a nice friendly feel. Medal and chocolate much appreciated for a relatively low-priced 10k.A twisty route but still with PB potential. Pity about the very busy road for the last 2k; concentrating on passing runners by jumping on/off the pavement, plus lines of traffic, puts paid to any real effort towards the end of the race.....and also a complicated route to the finish.....tight corners, narrow and muddy. Still, a race worth running....well done RRR. Date of review: May 5, 2008
