In short: Great for back-markers.
In full: It was nice that the marshals waited around for backmarkers and offered jelly-babies, encouragement etc. Good changing facilities and well organised. The comment about paving stones is a bit unfair - I was at the back and there was a police car following me. When I was "lapped" the race leader was on the road following the lead cyclist. The two runners behind him cut onto the pavement at a sharp left hand turn , and were followed by everyone else. There wasn't that much traffic for much of the route for about an hour, but most people ran on the pavement because it was the shortest distance.

In short: A race to focus on your time - not the scenery
In full: Good facilities, very friendly organisers/marshals and ran super-fast (for me!). Thoroughly enjoyed the run and the above-average competitiveness, and had the rest of the day free for more restful activities.

Anyone who complains about the scenery clearly didn't know what they were getting themselves into!

In short: From a marshal's/organising-club member's viewpoint
In full: This is an established race on the road race calendar. In former, more traffic-free times it would have been more acceptable for athletes to run on the tarmac road, but sadly that isn't possible nowadays. Hence athletes were encouraged to stay on the pavement.
There isn't much to do about the scenery, or lack of, but to be honest, Sidcup isn't *that* bad, as a suburban location. Our club is based in Lewisham, nearer Central London, where it would be even more difficult to plan a 10-mile road race route, especially one as flat and conducive to obtaining a PB. Myself and other marshals tried to encourage *all* participants, and the event, like any such event, took many people many hours of careful planning to ensure things went smoothly on the day, but that's what we and other clubs do to give something back to the sport. Hope others thought the event was worthwhile.

In short: Local, no frills 10 mile race, with decent quality field
In full: Sidcup is never going to win in terms of scenery, but I rarely pay much attention to it when I’m racing so it doesn’t matter. What it does have is a flat course, with excellent PB potential and friendly marshals and little competition from other races.
The finish could be improved (apart from the weather) was - the ‘line’ wasn’t obvious and several ‘lost’ seconds as they ‘finished’ too early.

In short: Did not enjoy this one!
In full: Definatly not one i'd run again. running surface was mostly paving slabs that were hard on your legs & hips. 3 laps meant you could not tell if people overtaking were because you were slowing down or faster runners lapping you! Route became crowded at the start due to the fact that most of the race was on the pavements. Environment was boring, there is only so much urban housing estate you can stomach, and seeing the same views 3 times over was even worse.

Only benifits was that it is a fast course...so took a PB here and the facilities were reasonable.

In short: Well organised and very friendly marshalls despite the rain.
In full: Not the most exciting of locations but great organisation and a pb made Sidcup a pleasant palce to be on a rainy sunday!

In short: Good race despite the rain. Well marshalled but timings seem to be out as my self. Two of us from my club tiimes were out 14 &30 seconds respectively. It was not bunched up at the start so it is hard to explain how the timings could be so out.
