In short: Never fails to tick all the boxes! In full: Although the 'new' course can't quite compete with the old one, there was as much mud and water as Gordon could find, and little or no queues to get in or out of the ditches! Lovely to have the towel instead of the usual t-shirt, and the goodie-bag was better then most. The day is always made special by the 2-minute silence and Last Post before the start, and it allows you to reflect when the going gets tough later in the race! Thanks Bitton RR. In short: Haunted by ... In full: the ghosts of Slogs past when I was overtaken by a man dressed as a banana. As usual the race was wonderful and, unusually, so was the weather. Galloping cows, cow pats and criminal amounts of mud all added to the experience.
The only gripe is having to queue for the finish line. I felt the longer it became the more irrelevant 'finishing' times were. Also having to queue for goody bag/drink didn't seem as well organised as previous years.
I recommend it: the most fun you can have in public on a Sunday morning whilst wearing lycra tights and a vest. Thanks to the marshall who high-fived me at mile four or was it five?(he wore a dress, pink tights and a red wig) All normal for the Slog.
In short: Top notch In full: Loved it ... mud, water, squelch, OUCH!, nettles, mud, hills, fields, OUCH! mud, mud, hills, water ........ and then a bit of a boring bit at the end between the houses ... but all in all, fantastic! Date of review: November 13, 2011
In short: Once more into the mud! In full: A great race, organisation just gets better and comments are listened to and acted on. well done again Bitton RR - Classic race Date of review: November 13, 2011
In short: fantastic race, shame about the finish In full: This race is awesome. Friendly atmosphere, great terrain etc. but this is the first year that there's been a negative point, and that was at the end of the race - There wasn't enough space to cross the finish line. The queue up to bags backed up to across the finish line. Other than this, the race is top notch.
