In short: Festival type atmosphere, enjoyable race...shame about the delay. In full: Lots of things going on in and around the start/finish. Large number of competitors, some in fancy dress which made it a good atmosphere. Encouraging stewards and frequent water stations. Good race to enter, although long delay at the start due to traffic problems. Would do again. Date of review: June 13, 2010
In short: fast friendly race. Great support from all the marshals In full: loads of water, sponges and fantastic support form all the marshals and organisers (particularly appreciated today as I was feeling rubbish!) - thanks Southend. Date of review: June 13, 2010
In short: Flat run by the seaside In full: Generally a well organised race although start was delayed by traffic problemsthis year and and communications issues letting everybody know. Start was very narrow leading to bunching. Only two criticisms of a very good race.
Flat two lap route so you know what to expect. Plenty of water and sponges. Reasonable support. Wind and/or sun can be a problem but this year was about spot on.
Well worth doing and definitely PB potential if the weather is right
In short: oh we do like to be beside the seaside! very flat route half-helped along by the seas breeze. In full: Easy to get to on the train. Simple seafront route, with a seabreeze you could get yourself a PB! (I did albeit my first half marathon.) washed down with fish and chips and the best local rossi ice cream by the pier- you cannot go wrong! Date of review: February 24, 2010
In short: Flat so there is potential for a PB although too hot for me this time. Well organised. In full: Its a mixed bag for me. Nice run to begin with and it is fast and flat but the route could surely be better. There are some potentially great routes in the area, I should know, I run there all the time. So on the fourth time along the seafront I was losing my mind. Date of review: February 10, 2010
