In short: Hot day but great organisation and very friendly
In full: This was my first 5 miler - chose well as the organisation was spot on, support along the route, friendly and welcoming, excellent prize-giving (I won a spot prize!) lovely fun run for the kids beforehand - 2 much needed drinks stations plus one at the finish with water and juice - fantastic facilities at the leisure centre. Only down side was the blistering heat, but hey, can't do much about that one.

In short: Top class organisation
In full: I was so very impressed with the organisation of this race. A problem with the course was dealt with smoothly and efficiently. The marshals were terrific and deserve a huge round of applause. On a day like today, the lack of shade over large parts of the course did add to the difficulty, but that is obviously not something that can be held against the organisers, especially since they did provide an extra water station on account of the heat. The only downside for me was the section along the main road with cars whizzing by non-stop. I did not feel confident about overtaking anyone on that stretch, and some cars did veer in very close to the runnner. Overall though, I think this is a splendid event and I intend to return next year.

In short: The organisers said they had had problems - but everything seemed to go like clockwork to me.
In full: First things first - today wasn't a day to be running. By 10 o'clock we were in the mid twenties and the thought of a fast five miler was a thing of dread.

Apart from that though LERC were fantastic, they announced early on that there had been problems with the course (due to someone locking a gate) but they advised that the course had not only been rerouted but also remeasured.

They also made sure they catered for the hot weather making sure that the one original water station was added to to make two and that they decided to go from cups to bottles to allow you to run with them. This seems really thoughtful to me.

Just to top it off a cracking T-Shirt which was XL as well (all too often at races I have to settle for a tight fitting large!).

Well done LERC you really made the best of what could have been a dreadful day (what with the weather...and lets face it Long Eaton could be nicer).

In short: Superb, friendly race
In full: Well marshalled, with great enthusiam and encouragement for us. Nice to see a few familiar faces. Shame the sun was too strong. On summer days maybe an earlier start time of 9/9:30a.m?? Has a PB potential there. Back next year hopefully.

In short: Perfectly ok, but nothing special
In full: It was extremely hot, glad it was only 5 miles, and started at 10am.
Course is fast, but a bit boring. Organisationally fine.

In short: Nice, friendly race, well organised, flat & quick, though some pavement running & an uninspiring first half on roads/pavements - would definitely do again, though hopefully in cooler weather next time.
