In short: Well organised race, amazing scenery and fantastic water / lucozade stations. Ran out of goody bags for the last 50 people which was awful especially as they knew how many entrants there would be as no late entries. More toilets needed. Date of review: October 9, 2006

In short: Fun local morning race In full: 8 miles. This is a fun race, extremely well organised and very quick. The part along the river is great and the finish in Kingston is good fun, the middle miles are pretty dull pavement running alongside a main road, even made overtaking between parked cars and houses pretty tricky. Water and lucazade was great though - will definately do again as i live nearby - it was all over by 9.00 in the morning - bizarre! Date of review: October 9, 2006

In short: Good race In full: More support and marsheling would be nice, but buttom line- good training run. Personally i strted well but at the second lap I was all alone so i had no one to push me and keep me balanced, that resulted in a poor finish... better luck next time. In short: Flat and fast - a bit crowded at the start. In full: The October field was a lot smaller than the race earlier in the year and more enjoyable for it. Nevertheless it would be helpful if the organisers took on board comments that the start should have indicative finish times to give the faster runners a chance. Date of review: October 8, 2006

In short: Pure PB race In full: Maybe it's a reflextion of how little I race but I got a 10K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon and 16 Mile (although first time at this distance) PB!! Results are already up which is pretty ace really (7 hrs later). Organisation was good, only 1 gripe why have the most scenic leg of the loop the shortest? Date of review: October 8, 2006

In short: Perfect for a trial run before an Autumn marathon In full: And to be honest, thats the only reason I was there.
As usual the marshalls and helpers did a splendid job. And strangely, I seemed to know most of them which definitely kept me going. Many thanks to all of you :-)
This will never be the best race in the world due to traffic and location but it did its job today. Date of review: October 8, 2006

In short: Lovely 8.2miles! In full: Great day and great run! Irritating commentary who kept pointing out how slow some of the "elite" runners were compared with previous years!! Heaven help the rest of us!!!! Otherwise, good run, good marshalls, nice mug! Date of review: October 8, 2006

In short: Only did the 8 mile but really enjoyed it. Good stewarding at key places and lovely route along the Thames for first 3 miles. Not impressed by memento - a mug that doesn't even say the year on. Date of review: October 8, 2006

In short: Bizarre organisation decisions In full: I will start with the positives: race started on time; first part of each loop is scenic; waterstops were good and volunteers were friendly and helpful. In all, it could have been a much better race, if the oganisers allowed the 16-mile run to start at 8am and the 8.2 mile run at 8:30am, not vice versa. As it was it must have suited them by having less crowds at the water stops, but by asking the 16 mile runners to pass Kingston bridge for the second time by 10:10am, they put a lot of pressure on runners like my wife and myself, beginners who can only get close to 12-minute miles and yet have the stamina to complete the 16 miles in 3hrs 30-3hrs 40 (we have done 3 16 milers and a 20 miler, plus 4 half marathons so we know we have the legs for the distance, though not the speed). By withdrawing support after 11:40am we were doomed to failure on a warm day. With that in mind and despite getting close to the bridge by 10:11am we decided to pull out half way, only to be asked by a marshall "did we not wish to do a second loop?". Yes, we did, but (a) we thought the bridge would be closed for us and (b) no, we cannot do it without hydration. Perhaps the organisers can spare a thought for people who travelled 230km to get to the race only to find such limits imposed on them. Date of review: October 8, 2006
