In short: Never thought I'd say this, too flat. In full: Very fast, well organised. The marshalls were all superb and good arrangements around the start and the finish. My only gripe which is more me than the race, being from the Welsh Sticks I'm use to a few hills and found it hard running too fast on a flat a course. But next week I'll be complaining Snowdonia's too hilly!! Perhaps my wife's got a point.... Date of review: October 18, 2009

In short: Where were the hills .... they are usually my excuse to walk ! In full: Excellent flat course, fantastic marshalls, proper mile markers and a complete set ! Great medals and goody bag although made it look like I had just been shopping ! Huge number of club runners, and very fast times indeed ... I am used to c300 in XC marathons where a 4hr time puts you in the top 3rd ! Still, broke 4hrs for the first time and took pb from 4:06 to 3:42 .... still smiling ! Only downer was having to run around the park when you got back ... made the last mile seem very long although the stadium finish was just like the Olympics, very special. Will definately do again. In short: It's flat!! In full: My first marathon, but I doubt I could have picked a better one - no hills, and superbly marshalled. Thanks also to fellow runner Keith, who got me home from 22 miles. Andy Date of review: October 18, 2009

In short: Good Run, well organised In full: Completely agreed with the extensive review by devoted2running. Excellent marshals - Thank. A few uneven lanes, could do with stretching out the start to avoid the slowness of bunching and also reduce the risks of hitting the bollards early on. Great to finish in a wonderful stadium. The Technical T shirt in the goodies bag was great rather than some of the stuff you get in other runs which you're more likely to throw out than ever use. Not a fan of medals in the goodies bag - A Mug with the Run (& its sponsors on) or a Coaster are good things. Although an hour ago I was all for giving up running marathons and taking up chess, I've now changed my mind and would love to do it again (might train a bit more this time). Thanks Date of review: October 18, 2009

In short: A really slick, well-organised event In full: This is the best organised race I've run so far. Masses of marshals, no missing mile markers, great signage and directions from the marshals. Plenty of water stops. Superb. Fairly scenic too, nice country villages, some riverside running, and I've never seen a Turkey farm before! Date of review: October 18, 2009

In short: Superb, faultless support & a spectacular atmosphere! In full: In a nutshell, a fantastic Marathon with tons of support, loads of water/feed stations and non-confusing mile markers (some races either miss out miles altogether or have a confusing system going on IMHO)
The start on the track made it a bit of a stunted getaway and could potentially add a few minutes onto your time depending where you're stood, but once you're off it's easy to spread yourself out and get your own pace going.
6 miles straight then 2 laps of 9 and then the final 2 (not sure where the .2 came in) - the 2 laps were pleasant - pretty little villages and some nice woods to run through. Passed a little lake - all very quaint and English.
Tons of marshals/officials and even non-official Abingdon people offering sweets/drinks/playing music along the way. A really great atmosphere.
Was initially a bit worried about the no iPod rule but soon got over it since everyone along the way was lovely to talk to. A bit clubby - everyone seemed to have a ' joggers, runners, athletics' etc vest on but nothing wrong with that, just shows a commitment to our beloved sport!
A bit misleading when you get back to Tilsley Park at the end (you have to run round the park for a bit before you actually get back on the track for the final 400m) but once you've hit mile 25, you know you're almost home so can't really say it was a negative.
Will definitely be doing this again next year - superb! :) Date of review: October 18, 2009
