In short: 6 laps of the park, lovely enthusiastic marshals and decent scenery. Great atmosphere too :)
In full: A good morning's race, although shame that the changing/toilet/car park facilities had all been knocked down for the Olympics, but actually it didn't really matter too much. I did though find doing the laps really hard work - I've never done a lapped race before and just found it hard to motivate myself to keep going round and round and for that reason probably wont be back next year, although it's all dead flat. The marshals were lovely though, with special comment for the guy who was at the end encouraging people to sprint for the finish - he was awesome! Great food bag at the end, lovely atmosphere and was also very pleasantly surprised by the route - I thought it was just going to be round a field, but tarmac paths through the trees and along the river as well made it really pleasant. A final comment on the distance - I know the organisers have been round it and measured it, and it came up as 13.1 but my Garmin GPS watch today said I only ran 12.95 miles - as there's little route marking I may well have missed the correct race line, so it was a bit short for me.

In short: Brilliantly organised, PB potential, good for novice or experienced runner
In full: Very well organised, puts some bigger races to shame. 6 laps of Hackney marshes means it would be difficult to put out mile markers (or confusing) but very impressed - particularly the marshals who all have your name on a printout so encourage you as you go by.

In short: 2009 race - Well organiesed, good route and a fun day for all
In full: Four circuits of the hackney marshes. Lovely weather, flat varied surface, nice scenery (fields, trees and the rive Lee). Well marsheled, lots of water and nice goodies at the end. Was a brillant race for both the runner and spectators

In short: Great Atmosphere,
In full: This was a great first half-marathon, as I didn't have a watch so not fussed about the time only completing the course in good spirits and left feeling I could jog a longer distance.

The stewards had a list of names of runners so they could look us up and shout out encouragement to us by name, which was great. Had a family feel from the warm up to the cool down. The scenery was motivational and the heat -my word... was hot hot hot. Really enjoyed eating the food goodie bag on the grass with a bit of shade.

Course could have done with some mile markers and starting earlier so less time jogging in the midday heat.

In short: Fabulous for first time half marathoners!
In full: This was my first half marathon and I had a wonderful time. All the marshalls had a participant list, and they'd look for your number as you passed and then they'd call out "keep going X!" It was really sweet! I though they were absolutely superb. Everyone was so friendly, and it didn't feel like a competition - it felt like everyone was just there to have fun! I'll definitely do this one again, now I have the HM bug!!

In short: A very worth while event
In full: Well I didnt make it the the end of this race, a combination of my being unable to train and the stifling heat. Under differnet circumstances I think I would have thoroughly enjoyed this. The was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and the 6 laps round the park offered some scenery and shade (though not enough for yesterdays heatwave). The marshalls were great, very encouraging and made the effort to look up runners names from the entry sheets to shout encouragement by name. Perhaps for the time of year though, this race could do with an earlier or even an late afternoon start.

In short: Superb event, shame about the heat
In full: This was a small scale event done very well. Six laps of a flat course, mostly on tarmac paths but with two sections on grass and one on gravel. In cooler conditions this would have been a brilliant race but at times I found it very hard to keep running on account of the heat. It was very enjoyable nonetheless. There were two water stations on each lap which is a few more than you would get at other races and they were really needed in the heat. The stewards had a list of names of runners so they could look us up and shout out encouragement to us by name. This was great for lifting the spirits. A medal and certificate for finishers and the food bag we were given was super. A big PB for me but, like others, I found the course a little short.
