In short: Great support - great fun! In full: Nice experience all round. Registration was smooth - start was well organised. The start/finish line was on a very narrow path and I was squeezed to the back at the start. Oh well...
The support was excellent all around the course and the marshals were very encouraging.
Nice medal/Tshirt/goody bag and the results were up before we got home!
Well done - nice run, but 18 quid??? Ouch! Date of review: May 8, 2011
In short: My favourite local race! In full: Another really enjoyable run, well-organised, with plentiful and encouraging marshalls, great crowd support, loaded goody bag, technical t-shirt and chunky medal! As always, the chap doing the PA gives a witty and funny commentary, before and after the race, he really adds to the overall atmosphere. Thankyou Handy Cross Runners, I always look forward to this run. Date of review: May 8, 2011
In short: Quality event - good atmosphere, well-organised, awesome goody bag! In full: An excellent event. Entry money well worth it, especially for the t-shirt, medal and goody bag. Very efficiently run event. Flat most of the way round and a decent crowd especially towards the end. Would definately recommend. Date of review: May 8, 2011
In short: Great race well organised and very friendly In full: Just completed this today with my partner and we both loved it. Well organised, interesting course (some industrial bits) great marshalling, and local support. Really enjoyed it and will be entering next years
In short: Well organised race on a fast course with plenty of support In full: Lots of support from the marshals and the spectators - and the commentary team - for runners all the way through the field. The course is fast, no significant hills but not dead flat either. Nice medal, technical T-shirt and well-stocked goody bag made it excellent value for the price. Well done, Handy Cross Runners! In short: What an opening mile !!! In full: One of the hardest starts around but from one and half miles it`s relatively downhill. Great starting and finishing venue - plenty of free parking. Excellent value - I cannot remember a goodie bag like that for that entry price. Water stations in the right place & spot on with the numbers. Helpful & cheerful marshals. Good support from spectators. Highly recommended. Well done to Handy Cross Runners for an excellent event. Date of review: July 29, 2010
In short: Folks, I missed the Grant and Stone Wycombe half marathon start by 17 minutes (I got the postal code incorrect - not completely my fault- Race Organisers!!!) In full: I met a race marshal named Allan who got me registered, helped me pinned my numbers and ran with me for three miles till I caught up with the last runner. He was chatty and in high spirits and left me in capable hands with other friendly marshals.
The second mile had a devious hill that went on forever. I really wish I had time to take my inhaler. The funny thing was that for the first time in my entire life I was over taking runners and was not once overtaken! The course was very tough. My legs were seriously hurting when running downhill.
The road was lined with smiling marshals and spectators shouting your running number and clapping. I did not have time to bring enough water and lost time filling my 500ml bottle. If I knew there were so many water stations I would not have bothered.
The last mile was really hard. You had to go into the woods where you could see the finish line. However, I was told by a marshal that it would take four minutes to get to the end. She was right it took me 4 minutes to drag my legs to the finish line.
For the half marathon I got a beautiful rectangle medal, a beautiful yellow technical t-shirt, and a goody bag with a drinking bottle, apple, orange, mars bar, pen and lots of other items. I was very impressed.
My time was actually 2 hours 8 mins. Would I do this race again? YES!!! THANK YOU ALLAN, without your kind help I would not have been allowed to run the race ;-)
A message to the race organisers: Please re-design your application form with your race details and postal code. You should have returned my SAE with the race details!!!!!
In short: Great organisation and value. Challenging route. In full: Great half marathon. Hill at the start makes it such an achievement to finish as it really tires your legs early on. Not a PB course. Will defintely be back and what great goodies for a £10 entry fee. Well done Wycombe! You showed others how to do it! Date of review: July 21, 2010
