In short: A good hard, testing course, well organised, worth doing if you don't mind a little pain

In short: Tough, Hilly, Muddy, Friendly, Great Event
In full: If you only do one event a year do this one.

It has everything; short sharp hills, steady medium sized hills, long steep hills, mud, wooden stiles to climb over, stone stiles to squeeze through, overgrown areas, river paths, fields, cow pats (and cows to dodge - some looked a bit mean), roads, fantastic views (if you have the energy left to look up), woods, steep downhills, steady downhills, boggy fields, roman roads, bridal paths, rocky paths, runners, walkers, runners/walkers with dogs and I'm sure we actually run across someone's lawn at one point, although the lady in the conservatory didn't seem to mind !

Seemed tougher in places than last yr but it was very muddy and slippy in places due to all the rain - but that just made it more fun :) There were also a lot more runners this year

Managed to knock 14mins off my 2006 time so well chuffed.

Big thanks to the organisers and water station folks - top notch organisation and the course is really well marked so it's difficult to go wrong.

And a big thanks to the photographer who did all his work free !

I'll be back next yr...

In fact, as the race is so good - you guys should organise another... maybe a Derwent Valley marathon.....

In short: Great race through nice countryside. 30k is a long way - well marked and marshalledd
In full: Well done to Belper RUFC for the big effort needed to mark out such a long course across such varied terrain and so many footpaths.

Great race with real atomosphere.

In short: Roman roads & Bridal paths??!! The Romans must have been drunk & God help the horses!!
In full: This was a new experience for me and I never enjoyed it. I'd trained for the distance & the hills, but I found the terrain terrible, a running course that at times was just un-runnable. I spent much of the route walking as I'd only just recovered from a Sprained ankle and didn't want a repeat experience. However, The scenery was beautiful and the water stations friendly & supportive. Eventually, It was a relief to get back to base... but the freezing cold shower was an unwelcome finale!

In short: 18 mile cross country with hills, mud and cows!
In full: This is a fantastic race - one of the few long runs I truly enjoy doing. There is no chance of getting bored! The scenery and the terrain varies so much. The hills in the woods after 13-14 miles are tough when your legs start feeling tired but then again the scenery helps to get you going the last bit. Thank you Belper RR for a great race.

In short: Glorious scenery but a really tough challenge. Very satisfying
In full: I found it very relaxing not to be checking my watch all the time. With challenging terrain and few distance markers there was no point! This was an event to simply enjoy and be happy and proud to be a runner - whatever your pace.
