In short: Excellent tough race in tough conditions
In full: Excellent scenic race - plenty of up and down hills - lots more character than a flat fast course. Thanks to the marshalls in very wet remote areas -i'll be back next year.

In short: Great race with very supportive marshals. Hard work on the hills in the rain but yet enjoyable.

In short: Great, tough course. Pity it felt like mid-winter today though.
In full: Special thanks to all the marshals, stuck outside in wind and rain, but still remaining cheerful.

In short: What a way to start your running career!
In full: Having decided mith a mate, 3 weeks prior to the race that we should start running (due to our advancing years starting to show around the middle), this race was a very pleasant shock.
Amazing scenery, and a course that forces a pace where you have to take it all in!
A great challenge, and really friendly fellow runners (many of whom have obviously done the race time and time again) giving us beginners advice all the way round. A slow time, but we'll back next year, what a way to celebrate our first year running anniversary!

In short: Great run but no medal and one size of t-shirt
In full: Negatives: Never been to Buxton and their were no road signs put up, then you have to pay a non refundable £3 parking fee which is similarly unfriendly all giving it a, "this is a local race for local people", atmosphere. No medal at the finish and you can only have the t-shirt in one size which was a bit of a disappointment.
Positives: Really nice run, steep inclines but it has long drops to make up for them, with quality views at points. Also, the most punishing incline is at the start, which is important.

In short: Superb scenery with nightmare hills
In full: Beats a city centre half-marathon anyday. The scenery in the first nine miles, and especially around mile 5 is calendar material. A very tough run (especially with that wind!) but ultimately rewarding, with a nice finish in the pavillion gardens. Get some hill training in and do this race next year - you'll not regret it!

In short: MEN ONLY!!
In full: The joy of this race is both counterbalanced and accentuated by its challanges. The hills are the stuff of nightmares in terms of size, scale, and frequency. The frustration that these may cause though is easily counterbalanced by the stunning scenary and the buzz of tackling this tough course in a good time. A must run!
