In short: Beautiful location. Beautiful weather.
In full: My first 10k race - been 'running' since August. Local to the area so do run in the park sometimes - totally different when you run it as a race though. Atmosphere, marshalls and other runners give a real boost. Took 5 mins of the time I expected to do it in. Thanks to my husband for the support - he's training for the marathon but chose to run with me at my pace - it made a bit difference having someone to push you on a bit. Thoroughly enjoyable. Have now entered by first half-marathon!

In short: Fantastic 'off road' run, long hill start - but lovely downhill bits too!
In full: We were kept waiting for 15mins - with no knowledge of why. I have only just found out that it was due to people parking. Thankfully the weather was amazing! I ran in spikes, as I was told this was an off road race. Well it is away from the main roads - but it is part grass/path and a little trail. Not brilliant for those of us in spikes! So if the weather is good, lightweight racers are suffice. I am writing this because I wish I had had this info before the race - and it might help someone else! Course was good - 2 laps, but not boring. 1k from the start is a slow incline, then a short sharp hill and the rest is pretty much downhill. The prize giving at the end was comical - people getting prizes who didn't even complete the whole 2 laps! And a comment about a lady vet still being on the course was a bit off! Still considering all that I would definitely do it again.

In short: Lovely setting, start could be better organised
In full: Parking a big problem & caused the start to be delayed by 15 mins. Start poorly organised. Didn't hear any starting gun/noise. Congested narrow start meant it took half a minute to cross the start line and for minutes after that was blocked by slower runners. Organisers need to think about a wider start and getting runners to line up according to their expected finish times. Results slow to appear - still not available 24 hours later. Despite lack of results prize presentation was made after the race, but race director managed to insult veteran female runners by suggesting the O55 winner was still out on the course! In fact the woman concerned - a former UK veterans XC champion - was in front of him waiting for her prize! Lots of fun runners, not many club runners. Nevertheless, this remains an enjoyable race over an undemanding multi-terrain course in lovely surroundings. Course no longer short - now seems an accurate 10K - so well done for that.

In short: Hardwork but very enjoyable
In full: Found this course quite tough. The incline between 5&7k was a killer 2nd time round. However very enjoyable with lovely scenery and nice atmosphere. Will be back next time.

In short: excellent trail race within a beautiful park
In full: A very well organised race. The facilities are great and they really help making this a really good event worth experiencing. Everything being well, I will be there again next year.
