In short: lovely scenery, but very little PB potential for beginners
In full: This was my first half marathon, and I was quite disappointed with my time... Maybe because I had been training on the road + my pedometer recorded 23.5 km instead of 21, so the last two came very unexpected! ...But this is probably to blame on my equipment rather than the race!
Only fault was that one person at the end, even though I was obviously exhausted, didn't allow me to take an extra bottle of water, which I found a little mean!
Might go next year, now that I know how to handle the course and to bring my own extra bottle of water for the end!

In short: Scenic, flat, multi-terrain point-to-point, with competent organisation
In full: A very pleasant Sunday morning out, running from Eton to Marlow. Bags are carried and there are optional buses from the finish to the start before the race.
Fairly big loo queue with 2mins to go before the start, had many off into the bushes; still we can blame the smell on the school-boys.
Not a race for the competitive, unless you have a very fast start. The tow-path is frequently too narrow for safe overtaking. But a great race for those who want to do the distance and not suffer from 13mls of tarmac.
The showers at the end were a bit elusive, it took several questions to discover where they were, then they were well worth the effort - very posh.
Recommended for the mid-pack runner who wants a change from pounding the pavement.

In short: Excellent event, as always
In full: As always with this event and Purple Patch, a fine day out - scenic course, good start and finish venues, efficient organization, fast baggage service, lots of water stations, cheerful marshals, good for racing snakes and backmarkers alike. Didn't seem to be many portaloos at the start but there were plenty of bushes :-) No complaints and only praise from me.

In short: Not nearly as hot as 2008 (sorry!), still fab, lovely morning's run along the Thames
In full: Organisation exemplary as ever - signposting, buses, start/finish, water stations, lots of cheery marshals, still not quite enough portaloos, but there never could be (unless we get one each) The new start area is a definite improvement. Even cooler weather conditions laid on. Lightly touched by the Gods, as ever.

In short: Lovely Race, a bit hot though!
In full: Really enjoyed the race today, even if it was a bit on the warm side! The organisation was first class, from the buses taking everyone from Marlow to the start point, to the many cheerful marshalls and plentiful water stations. The route was very pretty along the Thames towpath and apart from one jug-eared idiot on a mountain bike trying to cycle through a group of runners most other towpath users were really good and cheered us on. A little disappointed with my time (I ran six minutes quicker at the hilly Great West Run two months ago) but that was probably due to the heat. A very good race, well done and thank you to all concerned.

In short: Excellent half-marathon for beginners, with a mainly flat course and a variety of scenery and terrain keeping things fresh and interesting. Would definitely run again.!
