In short: Very well organised In full: I seem to be in a minority here in finding the 3 miles of steadyish uphills from 9.5m onwards challenging. I would have called it undulating but maybe it's just because I'm not as fit as I was :-). I'd guess that the course is about 2% slower than Bath. The race is very well organised with an excellent technical t-shirt and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Date of review: September 16, 2011
In short: Great organisation & great support In full: Fantastic organisation, excellent support on the way round, a fast downhill finish and a great goody bag / T-shirt. Couldn't be any better. Date of review: September 16, 2011
In short: Great atmosphere, great support, great marshalls, great race! In full: I think most of the other reviewers have already said it all! Great race, superb organisation, friendly and encouraging marshalls, scenic route. Loved it!
However there are just 2 things I would change which would make it absolutely perfect. The tannoy at the sports club and the start - I completely missed the pre-race briefing because I was in the loo queue at the time. Extra speakers by the loos would help. Similarly, at the start line I was at the back and couldn't hear any of the announcements. The first us back-of-the-packers knew about the minutes silence was when we heard the applause from the front to show it had ended!
My second, and completely selfish improvement would be if this could be run just a few weeks later in the year. It would really help my training which comes to a complete standstill over the school summer holidays!
So only very minor points - a highly recommended race! Date of review: September 16, 2011
In short: Marshalls were fab, course was lovely, lots of support from locals on the roadside, a really positive experience for my first half marathon. I will be doing it again next year. Date of review: September 16, 2011
In short: Could be perfect if you changed the route for the last 3 miles In full: This is a good race and very well organised. it could be the best half marathon around if you could alter the route to make it a bit more level near the end or how about running the route in reverse?. I know it's my fault I wasn't fit enough but the inclines come at miles 11/12 just when you don't need them! Date of review: September 13, 2011
In short: A great morning - very enjoyable run In full: Second year and enjoyed it as much as the first. Well organised and friendly and encouraging marshalls all the way around the course. Four good water bottle points which were most welcome. Great goody bag and water and bannanas at the end of the race. Encouragement to stay and enjoy the after race entertainment. Looking forward to next year. Date of review: September 13, 2011
