In short: Great organisation, fantastic scenery In full: One of the best organised races I've ever run. Great support along the way , lovely scenery. Chip time sent to my phone as soon as I'd finished. Not quite as flat as I expected with a bit of a hill near the end but a PB for me so happy days! Date of review: October 5, 2015
In short: Well organized, lovely scenery, great little event In full: This was advertised as 'flat' & it doesn't have much overall elevation gain there are a couple of hills in it at mile 16 & 24. As long as you don't expect a pancake & expect to take a couple of climbs you'll be OK. The Organisation was awesome. The course is very clear to follow & scenic countryside for most of it. There are pacers from 3 hours & 15 min intervals after that. The finishers T was long sleeve, ideal to get at an autumn marathon going into winter training & the medal was fab. Loads of gels & sports drink stations although don't blink or you'll miss the gels. There was one table of gels they weren't spaced along the whole feed station. There are some pretty bland stretches of country road with no spectators or atmosphere but the villages are well supported as you go through each one. Date of review: October 5, 2015
In short: Great race and organisation. In full: Very enjoyable race (GFA time improved things further ) . Course was good, those little inclines in the last few miles stung a little. Support through out the course was very good. Would recommend for all runners from first timers to elite. Date of review: October 5, 2015
In short: Love it love it love it!! In full: Can't fault it. Third time I've done it and it just gets better and better. Fab route, great organisation, lots of lovely touches like the race Angels, loads of friendly marshals and an awesome long sleeved t. What's not to like?!?! Oh and the runners get treated like grown ups, unlike some events I could mention..... Date of review: October 5, 2015
In short: Not as flat as advertised In full: I raced Chester yesterday as part of my preparation for 6in6 and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. After running London and Paris already this year I had seen this course was advertised as flat but I would argue that. My strava says it had more elevation gain that both Paris and London which was suprising. That said I did run a 10 min pb to finish just over 3hrs.
The course was well marshaled and all the feedstaions had plenty of fluids. Maybe I have been treated at other marathons/ triathlons but I do love a bowl of jelly beans/ babies at the stations as I am not a huge gel person.
I would probably do this race again as family live nearby but I wouldn't drive the 200 miles it was if I didn't. Date of review: October 5, 2015
In short: Absolutely flawless! In full: Organisation was perfect, from the free social training runs to the big day itself. It's a personal race and the race organisers attend the social training runs as well you you get to meet the people that run the whole thing. The entire experience is designed by runners. The communication leading up to the big day was perfect, couldn't fault it. The day itself couldn't have been better. Everything was just so well organised and looked great. Chester Racecourse is the perfect place to start a race like this! Everything was very clear, so you knew exactly where to go. All the volunteers were fab as well, the most supportive race I've ran. There were plenty of toilets as well so the queues never got that big. The start line and starting area with the times were very well signposted. The pacers were BRILLIANT! Unfortunately I couldn't stick with the 4:30ers but they were absolutely great! The water stations were very well organised as well and had everything you needed, so you didn't need to carry much if anything at all. The finishing line was great, the atmosphere was just perfect. Loved the goody bag! Honestly, I couldn't fault it! Date of review: October 5, 2015
