In short: Superb.
In full: The mile markers were puzzling and the total ascent something over 850ft. Longer walk than expected to the start. Everything else was superb. Tough but worth it.

In short: The challenge of a marathon but with glorious scenery to keep you going.
In full: Although the entry fee was steep, we were served up with a fantastic marathon today in a very beautiful place. Marshalled car-parking (£3.00 fee) and efficient registration. Walk to start took 20 minutes and you had to wrap up well as it was bitterly cold.

Once we got started, we soon warmed up and the sun came out. A glorious day although a cold breeze encouraged you to keep moving.

Although a trail race, the surface was firm, and with tarmac sections to reward me for wearing road shoes! Course profile was undulating, and most of the hills were runnable although the one at 23 miles forced a walk from me due to tiredness and lack of training (after a recent injury lay-off). However, the route was very scenic, and the clear conditions and autumnal colours were rewarding.

My only criticism were the mile-markers. As mentioned by an earlier rater, these seemed to be randomly placed. At mile 3, my garmin stated 3.5, and then some of the markers were ludicrously short although they closely matched the actual distance from 18 miles onwards with 26.25 on my garmin at the end. I therefore ignored the markers and used my garmin for my pacing.

Thanks to everyone involved for an unforgettable day.

In short: I see why this marathon sells out!
In full: This one one of the best marathons I have ever run...the scenery was absolutely beautiful and the marshalls and water stations were fantastic...every aspect of the race was well organized...

and yes the hills were a lot worst than the organizers indicated....so do a bit of hill training in preparation for this one...

there are times when you are alone...but hey that is a logical trade off to any pristine surrounding...if there were loads of people around it wouldn't be this nice..

see my garmin for the route and elevations...don't laugh at my time!

In short: undulating yeh
In full: Had look forward to this for some time
Pro's-beautiful scenery-Eagleton marshalls top drawer-slower runners unity and nice comments from some of the quality runners.
Con's-ridiculously hilly-lonely run-the two laps was morale sapping watching the best athletes racing past you. Hardly any atmosphere on the run so lonely at parts except start/end and most of the marshalls.

In short: friendliest race ever! but those hills....
In full: Did the robin hood in september, but this was in a different league! I've never run a 'smaller' event before, but it was so friendly, the marshalls and spectators made me feel special, not just one of thousands passing through! The scenery was stunning, at one point running with a flock of sheep!
However - when the organizers described the route as 'undulating, but no major hills to worry about' they lied! It was challenging, but pleased I didn't join the majority who walked up the worst of them! Will train better for that next year, but despite that managed a PB, so pretty special day all round.
Ditching the robin hood for this one!

In short: Really enjoyed my first marathon, though plenty of others were struggling!
In full: Marshals and water stations were so brilliant, but the organiser needs to get a garmin, as I could only work out my pace by asking people who had one- the mile markers were very randomly placed!

In short: stunning location
In full: my first marathon and the views and beautiful trails on the hambleton peninsula made it very enjoyable. Organisation was good, very friendly marshals giving lots of encoragement. Big thanks to the lady who undid my shoelaces for me at the end to remove my timing chip! Route was more hilly than I expected, good job I have been training on hills!

In short: Nicest marathon I have ever run
In full: Beautiful scenery, well organised race and the most marshals Ive ever seen. Good support from the crowds and other runners families and good support at the finish line. Care was needed on the cattle grids and the many undulations meant that my toes bruised towards the end so I will tape them up next time. This is the first Fat Feet run I have done but will certainly do this again.
