In short: "Wasn't it fun, the day we spent, splashing about in the water?"
In full: Awful weather...flooded route to contend with...more like a cross country than a road race...sounds like a disastrous day?...far from it!!

Yes, the heavens opened and yes, there was lots of splashing about to be done, but this just seemed to enhance the event if anything! What's all that about triumphing in adversity, well that's what the organisers did here! Splendidly organised and very well marshalled race, despite difficult conditions. Everyone is to be congratulated, from the boy scouts on the water stations to the 400+ competitors who braved the weather and enjoyed a good race. And a lovely towel as a memento of the day! This is one I'd definitely do again. Thanks Southport Waterloo A.C. and Natterjack.

In short: forget trainers come in flippers
In full: Character building, just when your trainers nearly dried out soaking wet again. Will they ever recover. Whose idea was the towel, well useful. I will remeber this paddle (race) for ages next time someone moans about the weather.

In short: Loved it, even though the puddles were HUGE!
In full: I was a bit worried that 3 laps round the park would be a little dull but NO WAY. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite the weather and will definitely do his one again.
Not convinced about the PB potential though. Even though it was a truly flat course, the paths were fairly narrow so unless you could get on the front row, it made for a slow first mile. Not that that's a bad thing for most of us...

In short: 3 laps around a (normally) attractive park. Today, unfortunately, earlier heavy rain waterlogged the paths, and at one point a long water pool was more than ankle deep !
