In short: back for more next year In full: well, the heatwave certainly didn't arrive, and that meant great fun sloshing around in the mud instead of sunburn for a change. great race as usual, marshalls were incredibly cheerful when considering that they were standing in the rain for hours. a couple of minor grumbles though - all on the pre race admin sides 1. no acknowledgement of entry recieved - an e mail to say "you're in, you mad fool" would suffice to ensure it wasn't a wasted journey. 2. spectators train tickets - it wasn't made clear that you had to pick up tickets from tent, and this meant rushing back from station to get them - previous years tickets were included in race pack. 3. no marshalls for parking area - had to drive round town looking for side streets
race itself can't be faulted - everyone should try it Date of review: August 28, 2006

In short: Tissington trail this is not ! In full: Don't be caught into thinking that this race is all alongside the train in a nice railway cutting - the locomotive has the easy track whilst the course takes you through tracks fields even freshly ploughed mud for that running on semolina feel! Plenty of refreshment and spectacular scenery tough climbs along hillsides waterafalls streams and the chance for a beer in the marquee at the end ! Date of review: August 24, 2006

In short: Rain, Rain and more Rain, yet still an excellent race In full: A "must do at least once" race [third time for me]. Given the atrocious conditions this year the race was run superbly with realy friendly marshals, though I did hear one was missing at a turn off and the leaders went a bit of course. Nevertheless will be back next year with the rest of the club. Date of review: August 23, 2006

In short: Toot Toot ! Here Comes the Train ! In full: Superbly themed race, and excellent for spectators and runners alike. Raining like cats and dogs this year, which was brilliant. Fell shoes a must in these conditions. Top atmosphere and like a carnival weekend. A real must-do in glorious North Wales. Date of review: August 22, 2006
