In short: You must give this half a go. In full: Fantastic - great run, excellent atmosphere, brilliant organisation and marshalling. I am a veteran of distance running and this was one of the best races I have ever done. Well done and thank you to the organisers. Date of review: March 21, 2006
In short: a very good effort for a dfirst running of this event. I think this could be very popular in future but the organisers woudl need more resources if it takes off. A race clock would have been good at the end. Date of review: March 8, 2006
In short: Organisation and marshalls were superb, some signage within the sports centre would have been useful. In full: Free T-shirt and soup with a bacon roll at the finish!Just what you need after running around a windy coastline for 2 hours! Date of review: March 7, 2006
In short: Excellent, one of the best, well done to the organisers In full: I have been running for over 20 years and have entered hundreds of races, the Llanelli Half Marathon scores 20/10 and is one of the best races I have had the pleasure participate in. Date of review: March 7, 2006
In short: Fantastic - Well organised, brilliantly marshalled - the best race I've done in years In full: Well done to the organisers and the marshalling team. Everything about this event was spot on. It was a little windy but to be expected on a coastal route. The small field in no way spoiled the atmosphere and I am sure that this event will eventually attract very large numbers of participants. It is pitched perfectly for on the training calendar for the London Marathon.
They have a great venue in Llanelli with the miles of traffic free cycle track and the scenery is stunning.
The bottled water was a good idea but they should consider using 250ml instead of the 500ml bottles that were given out.
Nice to have a meal provided at the end of the race I needed it; and the free massage certainly helped me recover. The meal voucher, massage, the t-shirt and all that the event offered provided good value for money and being a race organiser myself I could see that there was excellent attention to detail. Even having toilets on-route was a sign of the high standards set – (many of the bigger city events do not cater to this level).
The support given by the marshals the teams of St John Ambulance volunteers dotted around the course made it feel like a much bigger occasion – thank you.
I will certainly be recommending the Llanelli Half Marathon to all my running colleagues and I look forward to returning in 2007 Date of review: March 7, 2006
