In short: Takes more than the average amount of effort - so not an avarage race! Much better.
In full: Too many half marathons are either far too crowded or are just a flat road slog. You couldn't make those mistakes with this one! Great feeling of achievement - the hills are tough, but quite do-able. You get far more of a buzz from this than many, many others. I'll be back again for my 5th.

In short: Well organised, hilly and fun.
In full: Considering the small field it was very well organised. Despite not being traffic-free there was competent marshalling with little risk from the traffic. I found the hill worst first time around. It is just a hill, not a mountain, it ends before hurting too much. Nice mug and I got a spot prize of a bottle of wine. Well done Somer - I'll be back again.

In short: Superbly organised and a good challenge
In full: The organisation was excellent considering the number of runners, even the weather was organised to perfection considering the heatwave. The hill was cruel second time round but makes the race more satisfying (after you have finished!). Thank you to all the marshalls and organisers. See you next year...

In short: Great fun despite the heat
In full: My first time in this event, and I will definitely try to do it again next year. There were enough water stations to take the edge of the heat, the marshalls were very helpful and friendly, and the whole thing was very well organised.

Now if they could just dynamite that hill...

In short: Very friendly and worthwhile half
In full: I was encouraged to enter this by a friend, and am very glad I did. The organisation was superb with a time car, plenty of drink stations, oodles of smiling encouraging marshalls, and then a nice memento mug and a prize giving with three statuette prizes in each category! We were all set off by the Town Crier and the small field made it seem extra friendly and possible to get away on pace... with no human traffic jams. This really is a special race... so why only around 150 runners in the half?? Well, for those who like to run with several thousand and take minutes to get over the start... your loss this year. Come next year... you won't regret it.
