In short: Will be glad to see the 10k back at Garston in 2005 In full: Very busy and no chance of a PB. However, the cameraderie is great. The split will enable me to enter both events in 2005. Date of review: November 25, 2004
In short: I enjoyed it more last year, as the numbers have increased the facilities struggled. In full: Driving to the start to park took ages, I jumped out with 15 mins to go and left my husband to sit in traffic at the Albert Dock. After running round the dock to find a loo, I eventually used the mens! The baggage bus was a fair walk away from the start line. I made it just in time, no time for stretching, warm up or composure. Still got a PB for 10K with 43min - so can't say better than that really. x Will do again next year but park in the centre of liverpool and jog to the Docks. Date of review: November 10, 2004
In short: Very enjoyable first race. Friendly and Fun. In full: I only had a couple of gripes. Mainly about the water points (bottles would have been better), couldnt find the start of the race, no directions/transport to finish for spectators, didnt see any distance markers, no goody bags. I would do it again though - I had a great time. Date of review: October 20, 2004
In short: Would do again - but needs distance markers In full: Great City and great start at the Pier Head. I know Liverpool well and found the course inoffensive enough, however, I didn't see any markers for the 10K race and was left floundering when I could have smashed the PB. In short: poorest organisation i've ever seen In full: its all been said in previous comments but its the first time i've ever arrived at a race and the barriers weren't even up! A city like liverpool leading up to capital of culture in 2008 needs to get its act together. Good course though, could have been better supported along the route but brilliant at finish. Come on Liverpool you really must try harder. Date of review: October 12, 2004
In short: Overall had a good race (pb) but agree that organisation especially at start was very poor ( and was last year so nothing has been learnt). Paid £12 for Asics T-Shirt - small size was almost as big as the large size, very disappointing! Date of review: October 12, 2004
In short: Start needs to be organized better. In full: The build up and start of the run needs looking at. The baggage and toilets facilities where quite far away from the actual start line. I arrived at the start line at 9.45, and was amazed to see officials still marking out the course and putting barriers up. Apparantly there was a minutes silence, we had no idea this was happening. Better PA systems must be used before the next event, i only found out the race had started when the people in front of me started moving. Maybe it was me missing them but i couldn't see any distance markers. I found this quite annoying as i didn't know the area.
overall, I think this could be a Great run. I enjoyed my morning in Liverpool. The people were very friendly and I would consider coming again next year.
