In short: Fast course with good chance of PB time. In full: I can uderstand people not being happy about baggage tent etc. but I thoroughly enjoyed the race. The course was flat and completely traffic free which is a bonus. I was lucky enough to get to the turn early and avoid the crowd and to be honest coming from London it is a pleasure to run along the waterfront road in Liverpool. When you run on a course with traffic you may start to appreciate a traffic free course. But yes as I said I can understand people being unhappy. Date of review: October 15, 2005

In short: Loved it. In full: ok ok… so yes, it could have been more scenic, yes the start/finish line could have been explained to the runners a few more times, yes the queue to the baggage was long, but in defence of the organisers and playing devils advocate:
1) there wasn't a formal queue to collect the goody bag/, medal from. I watched this form up, the way the British do (ooo we love forming queues)... There were 4 vans with differing sizes of t-shirts, but the approach from the road meant people started queueing at the first van, before being directed to successive vans for there particular t-shirt size.
2) the scanning of tags by a hand wand, after the finish line is a safety measure, to ensure every tag is recorded. In theory, at least, all tags will be recorded by the cable running over the finish line, however (going by the web site of the company providing the timing facilities) it seems nothing is 100% fool-proof. I approached a man with a hand scanner and asked him to scan me to be 100% sure it had logged me finishing the race.
3) to have had the turn-around going around the entire roundabout would have meant having the finish line moved. I guess the constraints for setting out the course, were that the start/end had to be in the area it was. Potentially the extra distance around the roundabout would have put the start/finish line out onto the road infront of the Porsche dealers?
Nice medal and t-shirt.
