In short: Let down by some basic organisational deficiencies In full: Baggage drop a disaster so had to avoid it. 10k start got in the way and no timing pens meant I lost time at the start. No food, but loads of people at the finish handing out leaflets was just not good. That said, Marshalling was great, mile-markers were good and parking was excellent. Date of review: March 21, 2010
In short: Some organisational issues. No goodie bag! Easy access both in and out of MK. In full: Cheers for the medal but where was the bag of goodies? I did this race in 2007 and then there was a goodie bag and a t-shirt! I opted to leave my bag in the car after seeing the horrendous queue. Bad plan with 10K's starting only 10mins before, caught up with 10K's on a narrow stretch which was quite congested. On the positive side absolutely no issues getting to the race and leaving the race also able to keep warm in the Escape. Date of review: March 10, 2010
In short: My first race, I had a lift to and from, arrived with ease, left with ease, no baggage issues as it was locked in the car, great first time race for me thouroughly enjoyed it, will definately be back again! Date of review: March 9, 2010
In short: I still like it In full: Third year that I have run this and I still like it. Not sure why some reviews are so angry about not being "flat" - The notes said there was a hill, and I was expecting it and quite enjoyed it! Plus - I drove away quickly (thankfully I left the bags in the car so no baggage problems like some other runners which must have been terrible) and I was heading south on the M1 within ten minutes of crossing the line. I like the scenary - the lake, the villages, I was good to be in the warm of the Xcape until just before the start. Minus - No lucozade, I was expecting perhaps one halfway. The start seemed disorganised with the 10K being summoned over the tannoy to make their way to the front. But I will be back next year, so long as they arrange for the glorious Spring sunshine we had. Date of review: March 9, 2010
In short: Not a bad race - but could improve. In full: This is the second time I've done this race following the 2008 one and this time the route had changed meaning a steeper climb on the final 1.5 mile stretch - which wasn't pleasant!
Wasn't much going on considering it was billed as a 'festival of running' - no real major support from NIKE and only getting a medal for the entry fee was pretty woeful. The start was also chaos as there were no timing pens or anything to separate the quicker and slower runners - took me ages to work my way through the crowds. On the plus side, the marshalls were good, the water stations were stocked well and the weather was great. The course was partly scenic around the lakes too and I did end up with an unexpected PB which was good prep for the VLM. Date of review: March 9, 2010
In short: A reasonable race, not much festival feel and some organisational problems but has poal In full: All the previous comments agreed. Need to start the 10 much earlier. No goody bag! Date of review: March 9, 2010
