In short: A huge contrast to London interms of scenery and number of competitors/supporters. The out and back course suited me and I knocked 2 mins off my PB.

In short: Surely this must be the most scenic marathon in the UK?
In full: A really wonderful marathon up in Fort William. Undulating out and back course with the fabulous views constantly changing. Well marshalled and a friendly field...and a PB!

In short: Loved it. For me Lochaber is exactly what long distance running is all about. This event will always feature in my diary.

In short: Only the need to beware the odd juggernaut when tired is a serious minus, otherwise fantastic.
In full: A great race in a great setting, but a personal disaster - bad guts after half-way turned an expected 2:52 and V40 prize into 3:13 and nothing. Still, if you're nine-minute miling instead of 6:30 there are worse things to look at than a snow-capped Ben Nevis in the sun. Organisation efficient and friendly, though with so many heavily-manned water stations perhaps a few people could be spared to man the junctions in the last couple of miles instead of depending on signs? Course is very nearly as flat as advertised, no complaints there. I'm quite sure I'll be back - but next time I won't depend on Fort William takeaways to carbo load!

In short: Brilliant, superbly organised and wonderful scenery
In full: Moved to Scotland a year ago and first Marathon here. Fed up with London and not being allowed to run own race, this race corrects all that and no concrete jungle to gawp at! Would run this instead of London every time.

In short: Gorgeous Scenery, Clockwork organisation, and its near Balamory
In full: Fantastic race and a definite alternative to the London Marathon. Very well organised, from the efficient registration desks the night before, right down to the gift of a roll and cup of tea at the end. Scenery magnificent throughout the run and wether made it even more special. Very Veteran orientated, I'm 28 and felt like a kid (which is fab). Start was fabulous, 3secs over the line, and we stretched out into our small pace groups pretty quick. Only 2 faults - roads still open and I had to hop onto a grass verge to avoid a lorry plus a pretty late start time of 11am. Tortured myself watching the first 2hours of London marathon with 4 1/2 minute mile pace!!!! Definitely would do again and would recommend to any runner

In short: Only problem is that it is very far away
In full: Not completely flat but no steep bits either. Flat is a fair description. Really enjoyed the race

In short: Second time for me this year, and I'll be back again.
In full: Organisation wonderful, friendly and encouraging marshalls. The weather, like previous year, too good. Surrounding scenery so beautiful it can take your mind off the pain (almost).
