In short: Lack of water made this a bad experience In full: My lasting memory was the lack of water at water stations, watching people scrambling on the floor to get cast off water bottles was a sad sight. Date of review: March 12, 2006

In short: good for spectators In full: I struggled desperately with the heat. Really disappointed that I resorted to walking. No problems with water supply, I think I drank too much because of the heat. Should be a really fast course - but without any downhill stretches my messed up mind told me I was going uphill?! Poor excuses from the organisers but plent of potential and plenty of good intentions. Date of review: September 18, 2005

In short: seriously depressing In full: first marathon; not used to such hot weather. had no problem with coming in around 5 hours, but was closer to 6 - after spending 20 minutes' in the ladies loos being sick and trembling due to excess heat and lack of water - almost all the stations were out by the time I reached them. was also really upset for the (few!) people who came in after me to an empty street. The heat thing was unavoidable, the water thing wasn't. I have never enjoyed a run less Date of review: July 28, 2005

In short: Lucky they didn't kill anyone In full: Having spent the night in hospital this is the worst organisation ever bestowed on a race. It has taken me this long to comment, such has been a slow and painful recovery. Delayed start, running out of water, a "professional" marshalling company???, local hospital not informed of the event and over subsription of runners. If this is the norm for the Blackpool Marathon, join BUPA, get a good solicitor and make sure you have life insurance. A complete farce. Date of review: July 24, 2005

In short: The most dreadful event I have every taken part in In full: Like many others I have to say "Where was the water". I have emailed the organisers and received a reply to my complaints. I shall be back, but this time I will arrive prepared with my own fluids and take water from my friends on the course. I travelled from London with my family for the weekend and was horrified at what we had to endure. Date of review: July 19, 2005
