In short: The dipper looks much easier at the start than halfway up.
In full: Essentially a fairly masochistic warm up, an orderly queue, a chance to pretend you are about 4 again throwing yourself down an oversize sanddune and finally the race proper around the Ogmore estuary.

I tried to conserve energy up the dipper, felt I walked halfway, was exhausted at the top anyway and seemed to be behind about half the field.

Next time I am going to give it everything on the dipper and try and get ahead of the queue.

In short: Excellent-again!!! Well done Brackla Harriers!
In full: So pleased that the organisers managed to keep the atmosphere that has always made this race so special! Thought it would be a little bit of a post-Christmas anti-climax, but it was as uplifting as ever! Keep up the good work Brackla!

In full: Before starting the race i was a little wary about how i was going to get to the top of the big dipper let alone run the rest of the course, but once i conquered the beast of a dune i thouroughly enjoyed this race. I wasn't too concerned about getting a fast time which made it even more enjoyable.

All different types of terrain covered within the race, very well organised, good support from the marshalls and crowd throughout. I was only disappointed that i didn't thake the opportunity have some mulled wine and mince pies on the way round, will have to remember to have some next time.

In short: good start to 2011
In full: It's a shame that the top of the sand dune is such a bottle neck as most runners have to wait minutes before they can continue the race. Otherwise great scenery, and underfoot conditions were much better than expected. Car access, parking etc. much more efficient this year. Great support from marshalls around the course.

In short: Very enjoyable race. Highly recommended, It was the first time I had entered and it had it all for me. The down hill second half of the course was the most fun I had had all year. More than made up for the tough up hills.

In short: Why havent I done this before? :)
In full: How DO you rate a race that starts with a 200m climb (near vertical) up what is claimed by the locals to be the biggest sand dune in Europe (and believe me I had no breath left once I got to the top to argue with them....)?

Somewhat curious to run a Christmas Pudding Race in January - but the recent snows prevented the race taking place before the Christmas period. Personally I hope it was just those pesky insurance people that prevented it from happening - as to have a few feet of snow surely would have just added to the fun? As it turned out, the snow begat rain begat mud - but none of this seemed to dampen the spirits of the many marshals dotted around the course.

A wonderful race I'd thoroughly recommend to all – yes its hard – yes its wet and sandy – but the camaraderie is there for those who want to enjoy the scenery – and the challenge is there for anybody who wants to take up the cudgel. I suspect this years numbers were down given the large XC event taking place in Cardiff on the same day – but that didn’t seem to spoil the day one jot.
