In short: Decent enough In full: Well placed for London Marathon build-up. Did my first ever sub 1:30 Half here, but not the flattest route out there. Date of review: March 28, 2013

In short: Good, but muddy fun run In full: Was on course to beat my 2009 PB, but the final field was a complete bog and more Glastonbury than fun run. A shame as all the time I'd made counted for nothing as I spent most of the time trying not to slip into the mud! Good race overall, well organised, plenty of toilets and a friendly atmosphere Date of review: April 6, 2010

In short: Loads of fun runners, and well organised, but poor medal In full: The course is a fast down hill start (5.40 pace is easy to do), followed by undulations. Mile 8 is a long up hill, but not steep. The final 3 miles are a gradual up hill with a little down hill before the final hill and then 0.1 mile finish down hill (did that at 5.23 pace!!!) This a well orgainised race, and the locals are very friendly!! there is load of water, loads of support and loads of traffic in parts, but fortunately this year drivers seemed much more relaxed and not speeding. I have done the race around 10 times and enjoy it, but each year it gets more expensive. The Church at the start does free tea and cakes afterwards, but got clever to us popping into to use the loo just before the start, shame as the paper was so soft. It would be nice if they could give out a better medal, and maybe a t-shirt rather than buying it for £9, some other races with lower race fees give them out for free. Maybe next year Date of review: March 29, 2010

In short: A well organised race with a great feel to it. In full: Have done this race once before and it has improved since, support and marshelling has always been excellent, but now with chip timeing, water bottles and better toilets. A great start behind a marching band, and even though I was in costume so started near the back it was still well supported. Weather was perfect, the hills did not seem so bad either!! In full: A wonderful race. Usual challenging course. But most of all it was well marshalled and supported along the course. Nice to see bottled water and also bins provided too. Downers, those who ignore the instructions of no ipods/mp3s and the medal. Got a funny feeling the organiser got a secret stash full of medals so every year they need to put new ribbons. But despite that, a great race and will return once again. Date of review: March 25, 2010

In short: Nice weather In full: Great to see bottled water this year - a big improvement.
Only thing I was unhappy about was the "trigger happy" chap manning the A12 roundabout. He stopped us to let one car go through. Stopping runners in a race for such a trivial matter was pathetic. Sort it out for next year.
Other than that, a nice race and hope to be back. Date of review: March 25, 2010

In short: Great support and organisation, some testing hills especially at the end In full: Really well organised race at teh start and well marshalled all the way round. Some of the roads were quite busy, and you go across a roundabout on the A12 at one point (which involved a short stop) but i never felt in danger. The support was fantastic all the way round, but especially at the start and the finish, and provisional results were up at the venue within mminutes and on the web by mid-afternoon. Parking a bit of a problem - so get there in plenty of time! Date of review: March 25, 2010

In short: Well organised, lovely route. They even laid on the weather. In full: This is not an easy course but passes through some delightful villages with lots of support. At about 3 miles you have to battle with a roundabout from the busy A12 but it was very well marshalled. I was stopped twice to let cars pass but as it was for my own safety I accepted it as just one of those things. I will deffo be back next year.

In short: good race again, lots of water and good support in the villages In full: thanks again to brentwood and their sponsors including the local authority for another good year. good signage up for drivers and good marshalling with plenty of water stations (was quite warm in parts yesterday!). testing hill at end, and loads of spectators as came down finish shute - never seen so many at a local race! thanks again! In short: well organised in a nice setting, the hill at 12 miles is a killer though. In full: this race was my first organised half marathon, though im training for London Marathon and was very good for people new to that distance. the only down points were the ban on earphones (ridiculous rule) and the big roundabout at 2 and a half miles (though it was marshalled well). i will probably be back again next year.
