In short: Great race, my training ground! Run it 2 years ago and won, organiser said he'd up prizes (didnt though! £40 vouchers for 1st place). Great race though through good variety of terrain and undulations. Would do it again.

In short: Mud. water, hills, steps, great fun
In full: I really enjoyed it last year when it was cold and frosty but this year was even better with the mud,I even remembered to smile for the cameras at the water! I persauded my sister to do it who hates cross-country, she much prefers road races, and she loved it! It is nice mix of challenges and such a great atmosphere. Love it!! Cannot wait for next year.

In short: Mud mud glorious mud!
In full: Another fab race by the Merry Hill Striders. They seem to manage to sort the weather out too! From the gloopy slippery clay mud, to the tree roots, hills and water crossing, everything about this race is just great fun (if you take your 'having fun' head rather than your 'I want to run a good time head' with you). You just have to see the laughing faces of participants and spectators alike at the water crossing to realise what a laugh this race is. I'll definately be back (try and keep me away!). Mind you, that mud was so stubborn I did find some on the back of my leg in the gym on Monday! I did shower after it, honest.

In short: not as much mud as I'd expected - but more water! And those steps....
In full: First cross-country race, will be back. We travelled a long way for this race and it was completely worth it. Nice atmosphere at the back (where we were!), fabulous scenery and well-marshalled. Only quibble was the start which wasn't very clear.
We were slow - but we had a ball!! As a road-runner who doesn't do hills, sign me up for next year!

In short: First rate race for all types of runners
In full: Once again on a sunny Sunday morning a cracking race at Baggeragde Park was held by Merry Hill Striders. Friendly and helpful marshals, tough and testing course, sadistic spectators at the river crossing chanting "fall in, fall in" and an excellent goody bag, what more could one want.
The only gripe I have is, that there needs to be a bit more organisation at the start.
A lot of novice and slow runners stood at the front and created a long bottle neck for the fist half mile when they started to walk up the first hill. Nevertheless, will be back next year for another go.
