In short: Well... that was different...
In full: Didn't expect so much mud. Hills were good, even the tiddler at the end. Roll on next year.

In short: Mud, more mud, hills, more hills but good downhills for recovery. Views a bit lost in the clag but too busy watching my feet. Thank you to the marshals and supporters of all ages.

In short: MUDTASTIC
In full: If the two and a half miles uphill at the start didn't get you in the mood then the uphill sections of thick mud realy got the juices flowing.

If my eyes hadn't been bleeding I would have taken in the views.

Brilliant venue, very well organised and very friendly, even for us novice runners.

Definately do it again.

In short: Wet mud, dry mud, deep mud, sloppy mud, hidden mud and then really muddy mud = a lot of mud
In full: As a first time off road race participant this was extremely challenging to say the least but the organisation and atmosphere created by the organisers and marshalls made this a deeply rewarding race that had everything you would expect from a race with the word 'massacre' in its title. Steep inclines, exhilarating descents, muddy bogs and THAT hill at the end of the race made it an unforgettable experience and the large 'cheerleading' presence plus a very well marshalled course is testament to the hard work put in by the organisers. Will definitely be back next year.

In short: ouch (but in a good way)!
In full: Even though this race bit me quite savagely, mostly as a consequence of that second hill, I found it to be a very enjoyable run and a comradely affair. Thanks to all.

In short: Mud, sweat and tears (on the hills),
In full: A race of great character. A race in the same genre as: Sodbury Slog, Terminator, Slaughterford....but muddier and hillyer,
Very friendly, helpful officials and organiser. Well thought out. Some photos were up by the afternoon..... results could be quicker.

In short: a highlight in the masochistic runner's year!
In full: Looking at the options above, more explanation is needed: the scenery could be superb, but a. not on a cold misty February day and b. not when you are working as hard as this! And it is 8.7 miles not 8 miles - you really do need to know this as the last mile or so, although mostly downhill, is a reall slog and the last few hundred yards are uphill. Definitely not for beginners just because it is so physically challenging - unless you are moving to running from mud wrestling, in which case is could be a breeze.
