In short: Quick, Fast, Flat, Club Record In full: Again the Bourton 10k lived up to its expectation of being damn fast. Broke my Club's Record by 3mins so very very happy! Date of review: April 2, 2006
In short: Flat, fast, scenic and cold. In full: Flat, fast, scenic and cold as ever. Had to run slow this year so was able to appreciate the Cotswold village scenery all the better. Really excellent marshalling was a big help and encouragement. And thanks to the cheerful entries secretary who held my place when my first cheque bounced! The second short lap at the end is a bit disheartening (and confusing to tired runners) , is it possible to extend the run out of the village to avoid this? Date of review: February 28, 2006
In short: Cold conditions but excellent race In full: I ran a p.b. so I thought it was a great race. Picturesque village with shops to keep the family entertained whilst I ran. Date of review: February 28, 2006
In short: Good PB race In full: Sleet was coming down at the start but the capricous weather soon turned and the sun came out - I think some people were caught out by that and layers were discarded on the way round. The course is nice and flat and the start is very quick and it is easy to get carried away early on. The organisation was fine and the marshalling was good and the right places. It was a bit dispiriting having runners come back towards you on the way to the turn point, and also having to run an extra lap at the end past the finish -I'd prefer to do three laps at the start but that would concievably create conjestion and be a nightmare for the distance markers. All in all a good event - I got and PB but didn't run the best race - I will will come back wiser next year. Best medal I've had as well. Date of review: February 27, 2006
In short: Freezing wind but worth it just for the medal! In full: Cold windy weather kept a lot of the spectators away (in the shops maybe?!), but still felt welcoming, including the hardy few who stayed to cheer in the last runner! The out and back bit made me run a little faster when I spotted a greying, wizened elderly gent running for home as I was still heading for the turn-round point! Achieved my target time with 11seconds to spare, so can't complain!
The medal is gorgeous - the best one in my collection, and well worth the effort! Date of review: February 27, 2006
In short: Fab picturesque race with lots of smiley marshals In full: Thanks to the organisers & marshals for making this such an enjoyable event. A little confused with having to get into lanes on the last couple of circuits round the village (I can't think & run at the same time!) but delighted to get a pb. Thoroughly worthwhile altho my other half thought I was mad! Date of review: February 27, 2006
