In short: Can't affect the cold weather but can change start- be nearer HQ
In full: Too far walk from HQ and so few spectators, although marshalls were very supportive. Flatish interesting course with PB potential. Nice cakes at school sports hall and friendly runners.

In short: Tough almost "hilly" - great acheivement - shame start so far from civilisation!o
In full: being a slower but improving non-beginner, I thought the route was challenging but worth the effort. In fact was on for PB over the distance until mile 10 (that last hill was a killer!)It was quiet at the back so I guess there were less recreational runners brave or foolish enough to take it on! Shame about the parking/HQ being so far from the start, in the cold weather it would heve been useful to be closer to a change of clothes!

In short: Missed the start...
In full: I applied online for this race and didn't receive any information in advance which seemed a bit strange but as a fairly experienced race runner I checked Runner's World for the start time and the location and thought this would be enough... alas not. I arrived at the college in good time but as I could find no signs from the entrance directing to the race HQ, I carried on trying to find it. Just as I was about to give up and go home I met three other runners who also had missed the start due to lack of signage and we set off to join the race halfway through. We eventually found the race an hour after the start and run about 5 miles (not including the 2 miles I ran trying to find it). I don't think I'll be running this again because it came across so disorganised which is a shame as its fairly local.

In short: So glad it didn't rain!
In full: This was my first 10 mile, so I was v nervous but have to say everyone was friendly and the marshalls were very encouraging. As with everyone else, the walk back to the car nearly finished me off! It might just be me, but I could have done with another water station too. Overall, I had a good day and will try another one.

In short: route was o.k. but should have been measured as it was largely a road run
In full: Yes, it was hard to find h.q., despite being there before. Signs on the road but not where you should turn left so easy to miss. Lucky i was early. But more seriously the distance from the finish to the h.q. was not just inconvenient but very dangerous. The red cross can vouch for that as they spent an hour with me as i was in a very cold state. Despite this help i didn't stop shivering for over 4 hours. But this was not a cold day for nov. standards. It has snowed here before for this event. In that case there would be people in the hospital, no doubt about that. Fancy telling runners to leave cars in the town, this must be nearly 3 miles from the finish, i spoke to one person who walked all that way to his car located in the town. The only reason more people weren't cold was that many people parked near the finish.

In short: Worth running just for the cake at the end
In full: I had never run this before but heard various reports about it being hilly. So I was prepared for the worst, it wasn't that bad, apparently the course has been changed this year, the consesus being that it was better than before. Apart from the long cold walk to the start and the unfortunate(wrenching) stink at the start I enjoyed the race a great deal. My complements to the ladies on the refreshments particuarly the cakes which were first class.

In short: Chellenging, cold, but enjoyable
In full: The race HQ being so far from the start was a definite novelty and not really recommended. If it had been raining at the finish it would have been horrible. On the other hand the course was great with some really tough inclines over rough tracks to make it very interesting, marshalls were encouraging, scenery was very pleasant and I ran a "PB". (Fastest time this century but some way off what I used to when I was a young un.). Overall, I really enjoyed the day.
