In short: 2012 race review. A great event, but organisation worsening each year.
In full: I love this event, that's why I've done it 7 times now. I agree with the complaints others have made, but there's just something special about it for me. Their website is terible, arrive early if you want to use one of the shrinking number of loos, don't expect much at the finish - but it;s still a fantastic run. I did my best time since '88 this year as a nifty fifty.
I will be back next year.

In short: Overpriced
In full: 2012 race - Nice course, spoiled by the organisation. Start delayed due to toilet and baggage queues, bad congestion for at least first mile/mile and a half. Water stations really well manned but only feeble plastic cups of water scooped out of 'bins' available, no bottles or energy drinks. At end given a medal, Mars bar and at last a bottle of water, but couldn't even manage a bag to put them in. Very amateur feel.

In full: I'm actually rating the 2012 race but couldn't select it in the drop down box. Wakey wakey RW.
This was the fifth time I've done this race since 2004 and the organisation gets shoddier and lazier by the year. Once, one of the blue riband HM's in the south east, now just another half, but just a lot more expensive.
For the entry fee paid, you would expect more than water stations with plastic cups that are pretty hard to drink from except if you are walking. Where was the Lucozade Sport?
Half an hour to collect baggage? Guys, it helps if you store it in numerical order. Kind of makes it easier to find.
Although not the be all and end all, the medals just get cheaper. I had a look at some of the past years ones when I got home and the quality was a lot better.
Sad to see a race like this get so poor. Complacency?

In full: In ran this race in 2012 (7 oct) and must say it was a very good experience as my first half marathon mostly because of the amazing scenery.
However i got a bit annoyed with the start, i placed myself in the queue next to the 1h45 post to find out that i was doing an appalling 6min/km after the first 1km because the race is not staged and the start is really crowded and you simply cannot overtake anyone. It gets better around 2km, although i lost a good 3min. Staging the start would avoid such problems.
The other let down is the water cups as everyone else mentioned. Theyre small and flimsy, you grab them and there's barely any water left inside. How much a water bottle costs these days?!
The goody bag got worse from what I read, this year was only a Mars bar, a 50cl water bottle and a medal. A bit tough after 21Km...
Marshals are however friendly and overall a good run - would benefit from a few improvements though;

In full: I ran this race today - 25th Sept 2011 - but couldn't select 2011 in the options.
Nice place to run, great finish and hills were not too bad. The marshalls were helpful and the hospitality area was ok.
Start time of 1pm is odd and I think I ate too late!
Main complaints however are the water cups used instead of bottles - despite warning us in the runners pack not to pour water 'bottles' over us, which indicated that we would be given bottles. Cups either slow down or soak, and I really feel that with so many runners, the organisers could have stretched to buying bottles of water for runners. Especially on a hot day - which it was today...there were no extra water supplies or the showers also promised in the runners pack.
The goody bag was shocking - in fact no bag... a medal, mars bar, sports drink and finally the bottle of water! I even had to buy my own race T-shirt....
When I compare this all to the Cardiff half marathon, there is no comparison. It is for these reasons, that I will not be entering this race again.

In short: friendly atmosphere, great marshalls,plentiful drink staions, beautiful scenery- what more do you need?
In full: This is my second Windsor Half ( it's my local training ground, lucky me!) so no hassles with parking, etc as I pretty much live next door. Expensive yes, but in aid of worthy charities so really if you are only runnning for the goody bag, best off save the entry fee, and go out and buy your own! You get what you need at the end of the race- cheers from the onlookers, a medal, drink and a mars bar.Drink stations frequent and always some had sports drinks available for mid field runners like myself. I have run in too many races where I am lucky if there happens to be water left, let alone sports drinks!A pleasant run, friendly atmosphere with loads of encouraging marshalls and raising money for charity to boot.And those hills? Try a few runs around Sydney and then talk to me about hills....
