In short: Why the queues ? Start/registration and at the finish ??
In full: Expensive at £17 for a trail marathon + busfare £4.
Bused from finish to start, buses travelled in convoy, so we all arrived together - why ?
The poster telling you where to queue were at knee level - so of course we could not see them, Q to register, Q for black sacg and tag.Route - well marshalled - 2nd half made tough in places as we tried to pass half marathoners in narrow places.
However, after finishing and after asking I was told momentos in the school, so I went to the school and found another long long very slow moving Q - just what you need after completing a marathon - just one guy handing out medals and t-shirts - why ?
This finally spoilt a good day - took an hour to get from the finish line to my car - parked within a 100 yarsd of the finish....
Nice event - but please sort out the Q's.

In short: Great race - just the odd over-officious organiser!
In full: On the very positive side...

The marshalls were superb.

So were all the drinks stations.

And the team organising the parking and the bus transfers.

And the team sending out the race packs before the race.

All absolutely top notch - so thanks for your effort!

The race itself was also good stuff - like a few other reviewers I struggled overtaking half marathoners on some of the single paths in the last 10 miles, but for my first off road marathon, I didn't mind this at all.

The only downsides were:
- The registration on the day - I guess this is necessary for safety reasons - but surely there could be a simpler way than making people queue up in line before the race?
- handing out the tee shirts at the end - most of the helpers behind the desk were excellent, but the system was slow and one of the organisers was really being zealous with his book keeping - again it was unfortunate to make people stand in line for minutes at the end of the marathon.
- the showers were freezing cold

If you're tempted to try an off-roader, then go for it!

In short: Good scenery, Marshall friendly, but overall organisation leave some room for improvement.
In full: Good if your are very slow or very fast you won't be held up by all the half marathon runners that the organisers insist on starting just in time to make sure that you'll be forced to overtake them on slippery, narrow paths, just as you are getting really tired.

In short: Excellent off road marathon!
In full: This was my first marathon, and I thought it was very beginner friendly. Nice to have the half starting at mile 13 so we all finished together. Finishing in 4:40, I didn't get held up at stiles etc but there were still plenty of runners to chat to on the way round. Very friendly bunch! Very well organised, lots of water stations, good mile markers, plenty of friendly marshalls (thank you!) and clearly marked route - no chance of getting lost (which I was worried about being a slow runner!) Lovely lovely scenery, beautiful day, gently undulating hills... Great to have a point to point race. Only concern was the queue for the t-shirts and cold shower. Apart from that I would definitely do it again, and would recommend it to anyone. Also a great intro to trail running! Thank you to all the organisers - fantastic!!

In short: Interesting race; nice to get off road for a change, but don't expect to set a PB!
In full: Narrow paths made it difficult to overtake at times (chance for a breather!) Good organisation re. drinks stations. Could have done without the loud band at the end and why on earth can't they send numbers in the post instead of the melee an hour before the start?

In short: A proper marathon but off-road, with some stiff hills, plenty of water stations and friendly marshalls.
In full: My main running interests are off-road, ultra and mountain marathons, so this event worked well for me!
I used it as a hard training run for the OMM (although I ran sans rucksack, unlike another OMMer I saw).
I can see why the organisers wanted the 1/2 marathoners to join us for the second half - I liked finishing with everybody together. I was only in one stile bottleneck, but even there the marshalls asked the masses to let us marathoners through, so we weren't held up too much. It has to be remembered that having a constant stream of fun-runners to pass gives you good motivation for a fast pace.
I'm glad they did it that way round: the second half was more scenic than the first, or at least the tracks seemed more continous, with fewer 'scrappy' bits of road. I've not ran it the other way though, so maybe it's just my recollection of it!
I'd have marked it better for organisation if the T-shirt/medal distribution had been slicker. Plus the guy in charge of the T-shirts for the marathon finishers was a bit grumpy and officious.

In short: This will be my most remember race of 2007
In full: I seem to remember running up more hills than running down them. The marshalls were really great & supportive. My only niggle was the bottle necks caused by the half marathon runners

In short: learning to walk again - 2 days later
In full: Great organisation (in my opinion) I thought the queue for the T shirt wasn't too bad (although I got there at about 2:30 for the half /4:00 from the start of the full). I think it may have started to get longer right after that. You certainly can't blame the organisers for the wait to get out of the car park - I visit Kings School site regularly and those lights are always a nightmare.
Super route too- even though inadequate training meant I walked most of the hills; and sorry if I held anyone up - I tried to step aside for any heavy breathers, pounding feet and anyone saying "coming through".
Oh yes - and in response to an earlier post, the mile markers are an absolute must, I couldn't have done it without them.
