In short: Hardest road race ever done!
In full: The hardest race I've ever done on the roads. In terms of toughness for Lakes road races I would say this, Windermere Marathon (mainly for distance rather than climbs), Keswick Half, Haweswater Half and Coniston 14. Tough climb a mile in then up and down for next 8 before stinger up Loughrigg Fell. A must do for anyone who runs in the Lakes though!

In short: Very Hard but Enjoyable!
In full: Hard as nails course and not one for a first time marathon runner, great support and plenty water stations but they offer little else. Love the course and very cheap to run compared to other marathons. They dont call it toughest road marathon in the world for nothing!

In short: Hilly, wet and fantastic fun.
In full: Tough race up and down the hills of the langdale valleys. Did plenty of hill training before the race and was very glad I did. Organisation was fine except not getting our numbers and not having our names on the t-shirt, even though we entered months earlier. Computer error it seems, but it was a new system for this year, so hopefully spot on next time. Marshals had a tough day in the rain and yet still cheered us on, thank you. This is the hardest thing I have ever done and I can't wait to do it again.

In short: Awesome first marathon
In full: Did the half last year and enjoyed it that much that i came and did the full this year and again i was not dissappointed. Even the rain did not stop me enjoying my first marathon and enjoy it i did as have already decided to do it again next year. To also top it for me i won the first FV40 prize so made me feel even more proud. Roll on next year.

In short: Rock hard but loved every minute
In full: The excellent T-shirt hails this the world's toughest road marathon and that says it all.
We climbed up into the rain-soaked skies after just a mile and seemed to keep on going up and down for the next 25!!
This is the Big Dipper of marathons, a real rollercoaster, physically and emotionally.
A huge thank you to the marshalls who supported us so well amid a monsoon and the hardy few spectators.
I'd have liked a goody bag at the finish with a banana and energy bar after such a killer but enjoyed every minute of a very special race.
Camaraderie among runners was fantastic and this is a unique Lakeside challenge that will stay with me till the day I die...

In short: Long live the GLM
In full: A fairly unique race in amidst the best England has to offer. Friendly and well marshalled but this years organisation abysmal.

In short: Very hard course with spectacular views. Good local support and friendly marshals. My one complaint is that there was not enough provision for energy/food at fluid stations so bring your own. Overall, a brilliant course that I may try again.

In short: Best race of the year?
In full: Not even a typical Lake District downpour lasting several hours could spoil this race.
All the marshalls were fantastic and a big thank you to all of them for their support and encouragement.Brilliant race.
